I probably should have picked another time besides the Friday of a holiday weekend, and may re-post this some time later. I'm just feeling blah and didn't want to wait.

So the past 7-8 years I've had this weird condition called Dry Mouth or Burning Mouth syndrome. It is completely harmless, and I feel bad even complaining about it, but it somehow manages to make things unpleasant for me on and off. It's said to be hormonal, and affects mostly women who are middle-aged or older. There's not really a set protocol for dealing with it. Years back I went to one doctor who gave me a scrip for Klonopin, which is a dangerous drug.

I basically do nothing about it. It comes and goes, but when it's "on" (like right now), it tastes like I'm sucking on a mouthful of pennies. I consume way too many altoids! (And I"m adding that my tongue does have that "burnt" feel to it--like you get after burning your tongue on a hot cup of tea.) Again, it's nothing in the larger sense, just one of those things that manages to be annoying, but I wish I had a way of eliminating or lessening its frequency.

Is anyone else here familiar with it? I'm thinking of asking my acupuncturist about it (his English is okay, but I wish I knew the Chinese words for it). If any of you have successfully managed it, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks.
