OT Life is LOUD

Some of you know that I have been having hearing problems lately. Finally a doctor was smart enough to look in my ear and sent me to an ENT. My ear was completely blocked with wax! She cleaned it out and I can hear again, and now I know how to take care of the issue in the future. It's been so long since I have been able to hear out to this ear though, that everything sounds so LOUD! LOL

I have perrenially stuffed sinuses and have a feeling life would be quite loud if I ever got to an ENT and they cleared me out! So, how do you take care of the issue in the future? Go back to the doc or some home remedies?

Either or both, actually Mo. She told me NOT to use Q-tips because it can pack the wax in. (I had already read that, so I have stopped). Advised using an OTC ear wax remover weekly, with a flush once a month- or to come in regularly to have her clean them out. I will try to do it on my own, but now I know if I start having issues to make an appointment with her right away.

Congrats on getting your hearing back. I lost mine due to an ear infection two winters ago. It was months of visits to an ENT and crazy strong antibiotics before I could hear again.

Good work, Khris! My Dad suffered all thru life with ear wax that affected his hearing. . .it's nice to know so you can stay on top of it!

Yay! Glad it was a simple solution.
(My husband is an audio engineer, so his ears are very important to him - he's always lecturing me for using Q-tips!)

Did they blast it out with warm water in a syringe? That's what they do to me and man it's the weirdest feeling and sound...And then suddenly you can hear again! LOL

Kris--I'll have to remember this for my hard of hearing son. He always complains when a hearing aid (he wears 2) comes back from repair that they mucked with the setting--even tho we checked to see they are right. I will add to my now standard "you'll get used to it'---your "Life is loud" observation. =+)

Conversely--he sometimes turns them off just to be in the quiet.
