I just started knitting this fun little lace scarf,

and I wanted to see if anyone was interested in joining me? It's a great way to use up some pretty sockyarn that you don't want to hide under your boots.

Oooh, FUN. And something to make me get off the computer and get creative! How fast do you knit though? This may take me a few days just to get started!

My knitting speed depends on a lot of variables, but we don't have to have a timeline or keep up with each other. I actually started this a couple of times before I really got going.

hey, khris, i'm still a bit leery of sock yarn or fingering yarn.

i'll knit along by finishing the baggy bolero and starting either this drapey cable sweater with a turtleneck (although without the sleeves, still scared of sleeves) or this basketweave poncho totally cool!

i'm just hoping i can finish in time to use them this season.

ps: both those patterns are free through vogueknitting.com and are from their 25th anniversary edition.

knitty is my favorite, and a knit along would be great! I need to search my stash before I can commit for sure... I'm trying not to buy any new yarn until I've used up at least some of what I already have.

Kelly- do you have a pic of your finished scarf? It would inspire us

Kate and bj- one of the nice things about scarves is that you can substitute a different weight yarn. You will just end up with a wider scarf (or you can do less repeats).

MPJ- my printer is out of ink, so I just wrote the pattern out. It's fairly sihort.

I got through a whole pattern repeat yesterday, and I can see how it will look. I'm starting to memorize the pattern already, and am taking it to my son's doctor's appointment today to have something to do while waiting.

Dang, chewy, you have some mad knitting skills if you can tackle that! I definitely crochet more skillfully than I knit. I just bought some lovely indigo/turquoise variegated wool blend yarn at Joanne's yesterday and plan to start designing a scarf. This yarn has some gold flecks so I'll edge it with matching eyelash yarn. Happy knitting!

Your wish is my command, Khris. Here's my finished Lace Ribbon. It was a teacher gift last year or the year before. It's a great portable project and more fun than socks (IMHO.)

I'm in. I just bought yarn for 2 baby blankets, but I'll look around for yarn for this. Am I the only knitter who doesn't knit socks?

Lynne, I don't knit socks! However now that I'm in AZ I don't knit much of anything - I gave most of my bulky scarves to my sister so they can get some use.

Oh Darn! I'd love to but it does look a little complicated for this first time knitter... any chance you could post a few pics of how to start the first bit? I'm unsure how to double over the needles iygwim.

I'm a crocheter, and I just finished a cute drapey cardigan that I need to post pics of so I can get some help styling it. I envy you knitters though, I just can't get that beautiful drapey solid fabric - I have to use lacey stitches. Nice, but not always what I'm looking for.

I managed to fix my mistake, so I am off again. I will probably be working on this tonight as I sit at the dance studio for dd's classes (and at the park tomorrow). It's really a fun pattern.

Cool, I think I might do a belt, I need one for all these awesome waist cinching looks I'm seeing here. I'll link to the pattern once I decide. I'm also in the midst of a baby boom, I have FOUR baby blankets to do before the end of the year, and TWO are due in October. YIKES!
