Thanks all SO MUCH for all your kind words and thoughts. They kept me going throughout a looooooong day of waiting. In the end I didn't get operated on until about 9pm, and I wasn't even last on the list. Surgeons keep crazy hours don't they - I could never be one! Although I would have much rather have been on the other side of the operating table yesterday that's for sure!!

I was so obsessed about food last night. Just before they took me down to theatre I made a ward nurse promise that there would be lots of sandwiches for me - "not just one". Of course when I got back after midnight all woozy from the anaesthetic that was the last thing on my mind. Another nurse tried to make me drink a cup of tea at 4am because she was worried I hadn't urinated. All I wanted to do then was sleep!!!

I got to go home mid-morning (after a miniscule hospital breakfast). On the way home my flatmate and I stopped for 2nd breakfast and I ate a HUGE plate of bubble 'n squeak. Then we made a big pot of pea and ham soup which I had a massive bowl for lunch, and a smaller bowl for dinner along with a homemmade mini pizza. That makes me feel slightly more virtuous than if I had made my way through an entire takeaway pizza like I felt like doing last night!!!

As for the knee itself (now that I have talked about the important bit - FOOD), it's doing a lot better than I expected. Turns out there were 2 big tears in the meniscus, as well as the meniscus itself scrunching up in an unbecoming way and not sitting nicely and flat against the tibia.

Here's pics if you're keen, no blood and guts don't worry. If I'm feeling extra nerdy tomorrow I may even put together a blog post about it!

Its not sore at rest, only when I move or weighbear. Throughout even today it's become easier to walk so I'm hoping tomorrow will be even better!
