OT- Kids Costumes

I thought it would be fun to hear what everyone's kids are dressing up as for Halloween. (bonus if you can post pictures!)
11 yr old dd is going as a Mime
14 yr old son is going as some creepy mass murderer type guy

Great idea. My little boy is going as the Cat In The Hat. We had our practice run last weekend to see if he'd be comfortable with the costume.

I need to find a way to keep the hat up. We are going as Thing1 and Thing 2 with him. He is excited!

The girls have a Halloween party at Nursery on Friday but they are not allowed to wear scary costumes which makes sense seeing as they are all under five. Teah wants to be a football (soccer) player and Emmy a princess fairy.

My 6 year old is Woody from Toy Story. It is adorable, but I have to think the writers of the movie were pulling a fast one by naming their characters Woody and Buzz. Hence at Target, "Mom, I can't wait to get a Woody and a Buzz!"

AG- my 13 year old is Woody also. He put the costume together for the opening night movie and plans to wear it again this weekend. He did a pretty good job I must say.

No kids, so can't join in there, but LOP, I would try stuffing the hat with some tissue paper (not too much, because you don't want him with too much weight on his head). Another idea would be to take a wire hanger and straighten it out so that it fits in the length of the hat. If that works, I would probably use the hanger like a frame on the inside of the hat, and I would sew or duct-tape it in.

My 6 soon to be 7 year old told me several months ago that we wanted to be a policeman so instead of procrastinating, this mommy got on the ball and ordered him a costume in August!! This week he said that he wanted to be a Knight. Too late!!

I decided to dress my 2 year old to coordinate. He's going to be a prisoner - wearing an orange and black striped jumpsuit (actually his Hanna Andersson pajamas!). I bought him a ball & chain as well as a pair of handcuffs as "accessories". His big brother can't wait to cart him to jail!

Fun topic! We're in full Harry Potter mode here. My oldest is going as Harry and little brother is Draco Malfoy. I'm making the costumes. It's usually very cold here on Halloween, so I wanted their robes to be nice and warm, not the thin polyester stuff you get with store-bought ones. Here's my oldest in his:

8 year old DD is Hermione Granger ... but she insists on being HG of the older years with wavy hair not big, poofy hair! LOL (What does that say about me with sometimes poofy naturally curly hair?)

10 year old DS might be Harry Potter. Cute that they would even consider "matching!"

4 year old DS ... karate kid maybe?

The baby won't be dressing up, but I think of him as my trophy for giving birth!

ETA: Wow, look at that homemade HP costume! Do you give details on your blog?!?

9-yo is going as some kind of zombie; she has cobbled her outfit together herself. I am tasked with doing the makeup. One of my almost-seven-yo wants to be a chocolate chip cookie, so I braved my first visit to JoAnne's fabric store for supplies and actually cut out two circles (more like ovals) today. DS is so excited and fortunately doesn't care how it comes out. We did have to compare real chocolate chips to the dark brown felt I bought to make sure they matched, though. My other almost-seven-yo has changed his mind from being an M&M cookie to being a "biker" ~ meaning he wants to wear regular clothes, his helmet and ride his bike. Easiest costume ever, although I will probably coat both him and the bike in reflective tape (and he knows he must ride ever so carefully with me since it will be dark),

Cricket - Nothing on my neglected blog about the HP costumes. I used an out-of-print wizard robe pattern that I found on eBay, black fleece, velveteen for the hood lining and bought the neck ties on amazon.com. The patches I bought on etsy.com from a seller who makes them.

just had to share these costumes that DS 15 and his friend made yesterday. They made a pink one and a red one. I was pretty impressed.

I finally am getting around to adding pictures.
The first pic was dd at a friend's Halloween themed birthday party earlier this month as a Pop Star, the rest were for the party at the park. dd was an Ice Princess last night at another Halloween party- didn't get pictures of that and I'm not sure if she's got another get up planned for tonight or not.
Thank goodness she's getting some use out of those dance costumes!
