Oh goodness, they make you tough in Alaska, don't they.. I was already fed up and complaining about winter and the temps dropped 'only' down to the 20's (F).

As I sit here sweltering in 33C, I am finding it hard to comprehend how f-f-f-f-f-freeezzzing cold it is where you are sitting. How about we meet somewhere in the middle?

How is it warmer in Barrow, AK than in Fairbanks? I just looked up the temps because, to my trivial knowledge, Barrow is the northernmost city in America and I wanted to see how it compared. I expected it to be like, -100 :p

Maya, weirdly, Fairbanks is in the deep "interior" of the state, while both Barrow and Anchorage are near ocean and more "temperate". So Fairbanks gets the most extreme temperatures both ways. It gets over 100 degrees in summer there - I think they actually have the most extreme temp swings in the world!

Can you imagine the clothing dilemmas? A friend of mine told me about all the issues there (makeup freezing then melting off inside, tires deflating due to air compression) - yeah, not moving up there...

What? Most of you do not change the amount of air in your tires depending on the season? You don't have temperature differences of over 200 degrees farenheit (including wind chill and heat index)? I live far south of you and am absolutely giddy that the temperature has not dipped below the teens (for the daily high) so far this winter. It was balmy here with temps in the 20s today.
