Maya, weirdly, Fairbanks is in the deep "interior" of the state, while both Barrow and Anchorage are near ocean and more "temperate". So Fairbanks gets the most extreme temperatures both ways. It gets over 100 degrees in summer there - I think they actually have the most extreme temp swings in the world!
Can you imagine the clothing dilemmas? A friend of mine told me about all the issues there (makeup freezing then melting off inside, tires deflating due to air compression) - yeah, not moving up there...
