ladies, perhaps someone can give me advice on this dilemma. During last four years or so, I bought 3 rings and pendant from HSN website, all were stamped 925 which is for stirling silver as well as product description also stated stirling silver. The other day I decided to get rid of some of my old jewelry and since these items weren't being worn a whole lot, I decided to add these to the pile. Went to one of these cash for gold places where my pieces were tested and declared the real deal except for the ones from HSN. I was told these were plated and not real silver despite the fact that they were stamped. Just to make sure I took it to a jeweler who confirmed it. I used to work in retail selling fine jewelry so i know how the tests for authencity are conducted so I know it was done properly.
I was told this-either these items are base metal that has been plated or possiblity number two, that these have very small amount of stirling, so small that it doesn't even show up while testing. Either way, I feel scamed-I think I paid around $60-70 each and I don't think they are supposed to advertise it as silver if it is fake.
My DH told me to call them to complain but I don't know what good is this going to do since I had these for anywhere from 2 to 4 years and do not have any recepts anymore.
