Mary, what an amazing connection - I'll enjoy the book even more knowing this :). Did you follow the weekly format suggested in the book, or did you incorporate the language and principles as the opportunity arose?
Deb, thanks for posting the link, and I apologize to all for not including some sort of explanation of the book....from what I've read so far, it is a suggested 52 week program focussing on a particular virtue each week, for example responsibility or patience. The chapters include multifaith referencers, suggested discussion topics for how the virtue would apply in different situations, and examples of using vs not using the given virtue. It appeals because the emphasis is on the underlying virtue, which as I see it could be applied to different practical outcomes depending on the individual. And it gives a name to the positive skill that might be needed in a given situation eg 'please be responsible and be ready on time' as opposed to 'don't be late!' (my example, not theirs).
I would love to hear if people have used this or something similar, and how the practical application looked. The book suggests a weekly meeting, which I cannot see us doing, but it suggests posting some artwork illustrating each weeks principle, which resonates with me....
