OT: How much snow you can get in one snowstorm?

We have a major snowstorm since Sunday afternoon. Schools are closed, public transport doesn't go and I am working from home since yesterday. It is snowing non-stop since mid-day Sunday and we have over 3 feet of snow.
Pic #1 was taken on Sunday afternoon when it just started to snow. Pic #2 was taken today - the same deck full to the brims with snow! #4 is the same deck but a different view. #3 is our patio in the front of the house - that trellis is 5 ft high!
I have never seen so much snow in one snowstorm for 12 years we live in London! Our area is called a snow belt of South-Western Ontario and for a good reason as you can see.
Oh, and I did not receive a Secret Santa package yet - and my hope to get it before December 10th is very slim as of course mail is not being delivered in this snow...:-(

Wow! That is more snow than I've ever seen (which is not particularly hard given that I didn't ever see know until I was 22 and overseas).

So sad about your Secret Santa package Sveta- nothing can be done about the weather though- at least you'll be able to open it as soon as it arrives too!

Is this your first winter where you are? Are you part of the Great Lakes snow belt?

I have to say though, as someone who has never seen snow, it looks incredibly beautiful and makes me want to jump on a plane and come and see it for myself!

Sara, we live here for 12 years now and had a lot of snow but never that much in a single snowstorm. We never had school / bus / other city services closures for more that 1 day - tomorrow is the 3rd day. And yes, I live in the middle between Huron, Erie and Ontario lakes and we usually have lots of snow. It is weird this time though: we have a snow corridor from the Huron and Georgian Bay down to Erie with this incredible amount of snow but it is about 50 km wide - east and west of us there is no snow to speak of. You are driving on the highway and it is clean and nice and then it is just like entering another world...

Sveta!! Corey and I were literally just talking about the craziness in your town! It's absolutely wild that you and I live no more than 1.5 hours apart and the ground here is bare (though it's bitterly cold). I read that this storm of yours is delivering the same amount of snow that you guys received all of last winter!
Stay indoors, keep warm and enjoy the excuse to be cozy!

Michelle, they call it the biggest snowstorm in the history of London and it looks this way! We always have lots of snow (except last year of course) but never that much at once!
At least it stopped snowing this evening...

Wow that's a lot of snow. I love the stuff but don't think I'd cope with that much. We've only had a sprinkling in my part of the UK :-?( but I know they've had it bad in Scotland x

Wow... I don't think I've ever seen 3 feet during one snowfall (and I come from Eastern Europe, so we have long winters). Even when I used to live up in the Boston whereabouts, there was a lot of snow but it accumulated over the course of weeks, not days!

We also have some snow at last but it is a small thing compared to your part of the country.

Sveta, I love snow when I am PREPARED for it and it sounds like you are.

Three feet is quite a bit for one storm! When I lived in Germany, it frequently snowed, but only a foot or so. One winter we were staying in the Swiss Alps and it snowed four feet in less than two hours! Some highway passes are typically closed off in Switzerland during severe weather, and luckily we were in an area where the roads were clear. Stay warm and enjoy yourself!

Pretty! At my other house in Lake Tahoe, they have had lots of storms this winter already with several feet at a time. I think the yearly average at lake level is around 300 inches. So, yes, we get lots of snow at a time, but the area is prepared and has the plows and such to deal with it.

Wow, A friend of mine is visiting another friend in London right now. I'm sure she thought she was getting AWAY from snow by leaving Alaska!
