Wow! Sounds intense, Una. We're having a very mild winter here in the mid-Atlantic. Not even any snow yet.

I WAS cold.....but nevermind !

I notice the we Aussie girls are staying quiet on this one

Well, yesterday morning, it was so cold that I started the day flat on my back 10 steps down the driveway due to black ice. (I took that as a sign to work from home.) But yeah, I shouldn't complain. It's our first REAL winter weather so far this year.

We'll see what happens.

Right now, it's a few degrees still above freezing and quite wet due to a lot snow in the morning, and melting during the late afternoon.

Yes Deborah, we're sitting quietly in the corner. I'm humming "oh I do like to be beside the seaside" under my breath.

(Reasonable) cold does not bother me in winter as much as temperature swings. Saturday night we had 5C - Sunday morning it was -21C - Monday night it was 4C. How can you survive when your body is so confused?
Honestly I don't remember January that warm here in SW Ontario. We had 2 snowfalls big enough to speak of but nothing like last year when we got 5 feet in 24 hours.
It was raining all day and now it turned to snow...I would need to scrape my car in the morning...agrrr!!!

Oh, man, why am I complaining! But, I DID as I went for Taco Tuesday (yum, yum!) and I was freezing here in Southern California. Stay warm, Una! I feel your frostbite! ^_^

Brr. How do you cold-climate ladies do it? It's been hovering around zero (Celsius, so only just cold enough for snow) for about a week here, and I'm freezing my pants off.

It's going down to -35C tonight--they say it will be -49C with the windchill, yikes! It usually doesn't get that cold here. To answer how we do it, well, we are staying inside as much as possible and I'm driving my kids places instead of making them take the bus, plug in the cars overnight, dress warm, etc. It's more work for sure and super cold, but luckily here it usually only lasts a week or so.

Ok I'll quit complaining about -5!!! X

oh.. I'm so glad right now I live here in Portugal!

Sveta I am 100% with you!

Is there some cyber way of sitting Una down in a bar and plying her with drinks so I can hear the story of how she ended up in the hinterlands of Siberia? (No, I'm joking. You don't actually have to tell it--it's probably too cold to move your fingers on the keyboard. BTW it's 39 here in Boston, and windy.)

yep, I'm done complaining. I hope you at least get some snow soon!

I had to answer after reading the Cdn weather conversion chart. I am from Winnipeg (Lyn and Transcona Shannon) and am on week 3 in Mexico and returning on the weekend. I have attached garage, heating parking at work, command start, and heated seats in my car. I only go out in the evenings if I need to when it is at the coldest and try to do errands on the way home from work. Brrrr

It's -2 C here and there is quite a bit of snow. It has been snowing since Sunday. It's always fun at the beginning of snow season, but I do tire of it.

I have been in -12C for days on end (outside walking around in NYC) and it's so bitter that you can hardly breathe. Una, no wonder the state pays you to live in Alaska!! How does Kona do in all of this?

Our little doggies fall through the snow

Angie, she is part husky but the greyhound in her makes her skinny and she doesn't grow much of an undercoat. So she's good while running about, but otherwise we have her with us at the office or in the house. And she needs booties for her feet on walks so they don't freeze.

Our "real" huskies could stay outside in their pen (and insulated doghouse) even in this weather.

Poor little doggies! My friend just got a puppy and is miserable trying to housetrain in this cold...

*whistling a tune and looking around innocently*

You might not want to come back Dianthus - it was -34 this morning!

Brrrrr! This thread makes me want to make hot chocolate. Stay warm!

Hasn't been very cold this winter--mostly above 0 C. No snow to speak of, thank G, because they don't plow or shovel. The last two winters were much more harsh. Lots of snow, gets down to -20, and no sunny days for months on end.
