OT: For the quilters

I know there are a few quilters on the forum. I just finished this quilt for my grand niece (my sister's first grandchild), due March 17.

Wow - how long have you been quilting? I have been doing piece work for years but am just getting into machine quilting. May I ask what machine you have?

I've been playing around with quilting on and off for about 10 years and this is my fourth or fifth finished piece. I've done basic decorative quilting before, but this was beyond my capability so I had help with the intricate flower and heart pattern from a woman with one of the huge laser machines. I use a Husqvuarna quilting sewing machine though.

Wow, I have never seen a quilt like this before - it's almost like a scrapbook page! So so beautiful - I love the machine quilting (I assume it's machine quilted). I absolutely love quilting but never have time to finish anything. She will treasure this forever, I am sure.

Exquisite, a real heirloom. You deserve to be very proud. I am an on-and-off quilter myself but nothing fancy because I only have a standard sewing machine.

Oh Kyle, what a lovely quilt! I didn't realize you could quilt with a machine. My mother used to do alot of hand quilting and it took ages and ages to finish anything. I have a really nice machine that would probably do that, but I don't have any idea how. Did you take lessons?

If you can sew, you can make a quilt, and there are patterns for all skill levels. This one required, in my opinion, a fancier quilt pattern on top due to the simplicity of the design, and I don't have the equipment or skill to do that justice. Yes, Carole, I took a beginner's class and then just progressed slowly from there. This pattern was one I actually found on the Moda web site. I'm not a country person, so the more contemporary designs are my preference.
