OT: First day of kindy outfit!!!

My eldest starts kindergarten tomorrow *sniff, sniff* - and I wanted to post the outfit she picked out for YLF sartorial approval!

Hope the colors came through okay - hot pink shirt and the cheery yellow polka dot skirt I made her this summer. Kid loves her color blocking.

Oh, that is an absolutely adorable outfit! I truly hope she has a wonderful day. I know how you feel, I am having absolute palpitations over my youngest starting school next year. I keep feeling misty-eyed every time I think about it...

Here's a spanner (correct Angie-usage??) - I panicked, and ran to TJ Maxx (in case the YLF tide turned against me!) and found this ADORABLE, sweet dress.

Normally, I wouldn't send her in a dress, but as this is an abbreviated 1/2 day (and the first day) I think this might be okay??? It's only two hours she'll be at school... When we went for our kindy visit over the summer, all the girls (and their mothers!!!) were a bit dressed up - skirts, dresses...it was lovely. No one OTT, mind you, just sweet and pulled together. She could wear the first outfit I posted on Thurs or whenever...but ultimately I guess it's up to her!

What do you guys think about this dress?

MPJ, both outfits are adorable! I would be inclined to go with the original one she picked out if that is still her favorite. It's fun and cheery! What a big day...I clearly remember the first day of kindergarten for both of mine. I can't believe my baby is in his last year of high school. Enjoy these days - they fly by faster than you can know.

Adorable outfit! I'll be there to *sniff sniff* right beside you. My little guy starts kindergarten on Thursday. There has not been much discussion about what he'll wear, he just doesn't want to have to wear something that makes him look "handsome"! (which means anything other than shorts and a t-shirt!)

Haha, well, I can imagine it's hard for you to face. But what a milestone! I bet she is just so excited. I remember picking out my outfits (with my mother's help) as early as pre-school. I distinctly remember my mother not allowing me to wear my navy blue tights with my black mary janes because "you can't wear black and navy together". It was the first time I ever heard of a "rule" about colors. I just liked how it looked! LOL...

Of course, now I wear navy and black with impunity, other than her comment if she catches me...

Both are lovely and congrats on the big milestone. If she picked the skirt outfit you can use the dress for school pictures. DS started 1st grade this week and it wasn't as emotional (for me) as Kindergarten was. Take lots of pictures (so she can complain like I always did when my mother insisted - but now I do it to my kids of course). DD is only 3, but very adament about her clothing choices (NO BUTTONs on anything). I doubt by Kindergarten she'll even allow me to pick something for her.

Thanks for all the sweet thoughts, ladies. It really meant a lot to me that she chose a skirt I made for her (without any pressure, I swear!)...she really is a sweet, wonderful, lovely smart girl.

Ahhhh, I have tears in my eyes! Little Picklejuice looks so sweet! Did Mamapicklejuice do okay today, too?

I had your little daughter on my mind this morning when I pulled out the photo albums to look at the Kindergarten photos of my own children taken on their first day many, many years ago. DD was wearing a little pink skirt much like your daughter's, and DS looked quite dapper with his Star Wars backpack. Can you tell this thread is making me feel nostalgic? Congratulations. what wonderful pics. LOVE.

our only child and also 5 yr old daughter starts kindergarten next tuesday. I am excited, nervous and nostalgic all at the same time. I have a dress picked out for the first day for her but my budding rockstar is likely to pick a bandana, peace tshirt, skirt and leggings.
