The forum has been so supportive with dd's recent health issues, that I wanted to give you all an update. We had an appointment with DD's GI specialist today. She's been having a lot of pain for the last three weeks, so we have been waiting for this appointment to talk to the doctor. He told me today that her bloodwork indicated Crohn's Disease, but the biopsy of her stomach did not show any signs of it. He said it's possible that the damage is in a different area (which I guess would be her small intestine, since they did an edoscopy and colonoscopy and didn't find any sign). He also thought that her stomach felt hard- we had an X-ray done today for that. She has an upper GI and small bowel test (swallow study) the 29th, and they will be calling us to set up an appointment for her other test- where she will be swallowing a camera in a pill. He's trying her on a new medicine, too. I just want them to figure out what is going on with her and be able to treat it. It's unfortunate, but every time they run a test or schedule an appointment, we think "How much is THAT going to cost!?!" It's almost an hour trip each way to this clinic, and in January DS goes into the same clinic to see a rheumatologist because he tested positive for rheumatoid factor. We were hoping that DD's medical crisis would be over before his started, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't even get their appointments scheduled at the same time.
I guess the up side is that more testing means more information and a better diagnosis (hopefully).
