Dear Friends,
As you may recall, I recently had an incident with a troll on my personal style blog, Style Trumps Fashion. That experience moved me to initiate a “Shame-free Blog” campaign, and I thought that you might be interested in learning more, and hopefully participating.
You can read the specifics on my post today (4/12/11), but the gist is this: a commenter attempted to body-shame me, and I'm not havin' it!!! What I propose is that as many of us as possible make a statement on Friday, April 15, telling the blogosphere that we will not be shamed. I have two different badges (shown in my post) to mark the cause, and I want to paper the internet with them. I'm asking bloggers to post the badge, a link to my post explaining the purpose, and write a post in which they express their respect, appreciation, and love for their bodies. Let's make a stand for a shame-free internet community!
Will you join me? I really hope to see these self-love declarations on as many blogs as possible this coming Friday. Even if your blog isn't specifically about body-awareness, would you consider joining the campaign to reject shame? It would be so great to see it on some of my favorite blogs, as you already inspire readers in so many ways! Please spread the word, and feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions.
