I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. First, I'm sure you aren't feeling well anyway and then they are making you go through paces to get anything done! I hope it works out soon, although I'm sure it will take awhile to feel fully recovered. Hugs!

Rae, hugs to you (but not around your back! Ouch! Virtually, only). I am so sorry for this bad experience. However it does sound like this situation calls for a lawyer's advice. Write everything down, write what the GP told you, better yet, ask him for an affidavit. If he tells you you need a treatment, get him to write it all down for you and sign. Get him to tell you again what he told you by writing.

Poor you. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh I am so glad that you made some progress. You were not a nuisance, you are a patient informing herself of her rights.

Good Luck !!

(((hugs)))
We may complain like mad here in the UK about the NHS but it's stories like this that make me glad we don't have to faff with insurance as well x

o.O

Big hugs Rae. It's certainly a hair-pulling experience dealing with doctors and insurance companies -- something you don't need right now! Hope your new doctor works out better than the previous one!

That doctor refusing to to look at your back has nothing to do with the state of US health insurance...he was just a misinformed idiot. Glad you are seeing someone new!

In MA, if you rear end someone it is your fault, no matter what. Is that not the case in CA?

MPJ, that is totally the case here, too! The claims guy said the fault looks pretty cut and dry but now they're worried that the total damage is over the policy limit. More calculations to do = slower going.

Oy, I *really* don't want to get a lawyer, as it feels like it would be yet another party for me to keep tabs on and worry about. But we'll see... never say never!

I just got around to reading this. Never in a million years did I anticipate your frustrating, blood boiling experience, Rae! I would not wish it on anyone, but I'm thankful that the timing was after your Italian honeymoon vs. just before. I'm sorry you have to deal with all this.

Rae, I could hardly believe this when I read it. What an awful situation! I share in Krish's virtual (gentle) hug and also her suggestion to write everything down. I hope you are able to see someone competent soon!

Hi Rae,

Sorry you are dealing with this (literal pain in the neck, isn't it?). I am wondering if you might want to get a referral to an orthopedic surgeon/spine specialist first, as long as you are fighting the system anyway. I am always worried whether a chiropractor in some cases may do more harm than good, and in my experience an orthopedic surgeon will usually have X-ray right in the office so at least they can tell whether you have any conditions that would make it unadvisable to see a chiropractor.

I noticed that there is conflicting information online regarding whether a chiropractor or an orthopedic specialist would provide more help for whiplash. I guess my personal preference would be to rule out any serious spine problems that could make it dangerous to see a chiropractor. So perhaps getting a referral to both would be the best thing to ask for.

I have no idea about any of that kind of stuff but i hope everything gets works out for you! I'm sorry you even have to deal with that!
