orphaned boots: K/T

minimalist

After being worn just a few times, these boots spent a year in the closet, and I was going to re-home them. Then put them on, remembered how comfortable they are, and found out that bf likes their rough-and-tumble city-vagabond aspect.

Today I'm wearing them with Joe's curvy bootcuts, the only jeans I have long enough to wear with heels, and a purple drapey scoop-neck cowl. The only belt I have is black, and although I'm not on Team Matchy-Matchy, the belt feels too harsh.

The faux-stacked finish on the heels is NOT fab, but perhaps I'm the only one who notices.

What would it take to adopt/integrate these as a regular wardrobe item?

Is it that you don't wear bootcuts often? Have you tried them wih skinnies?

If they are comfortable then that is great.

If they look good with your boot cuts and you find them comfy, why not keep them for that?

Ceit, I only wear bootcuts, and they look fine -- I think? Turns out, these jeans aren't quite long enough for these boots after all; I like my jeans/trousers looonng. So I changed to flat boots, maybe I'll post a WIW - To The Dentist.

Suz, they're comfortable, but I otherwise don't *love* them and am not sure how to wear brown with ...whatever my wardrobe will become.
Seems little point in adding items to accessorize something I'm not sold on.

Biscuitsmom, what size are you?

I'm noticing some (?!) all or nothing thinking around my wardrobe choices. When I compromise, as I did when I bought these, I'm rarely happy. When I can't find the right item, I feel like there's no point in bothering.

On the bright side, when I have the right stuff, I'm *all* about wearing it.

Those boots are GORGEOUS. I'd wear them something that shows them off - cuffed skinnies or boyfriends, or a skirt/dress.

That being said, I just popped over to your profile and saw that you picked 'urban minimalist' as your persona. The second boots definitely say urban minimalist to me far more than the orphaned ones. Maybe you not reaching for them has to do with the lighter, thicker sole on them? I think to do these urban minimalist you'd need to keep the rest of the outfit really streamlined and simple...hmmmm. Are your flat boots brown too? If so, a brown belt might help you integrate. But I can see these with a sleek all-black outfit as a point of contrast too. I'm not sure I can suggest a lot of styling options w/o knowing a bit more about your closet & preferred silhouettes!

I agree, these are great boots! This style of "shoe boot" or whatever you want to call it is super trendy right now--even with the stack heel. But I'm not so sure about the trousers...they would look amazing with tights and a skirt, or skinny jeans that are bunchy at the ankle. Boot cuts are "okay" , I mean, nothing wrong with it, but they hide the boots a lot. I would suggest investing in a pair of comfy skinnies. These would also look great with a long skirt. For the belt, it dépends on the way it is worn. If its a wide, black belt, it may be too harsh, as you said. Maybe invest in a Brown belt as well? A Brown belt is an essential accessory anyway... Congrats on the new-old find in your closet! Love when that happens!

I think you are just not feeling it for those boots. Your style is minimalist, those boots arent. I liked what E said.

Donnat, exactly. Everyone has great styling tips ...for things I don't want to add to my wardrobe. I feel like I *should* add interesting detailing, and especially softer touches like brown instead of always black. But I don't. Want. To.

Now: whether to post them here, or locally, or consignment.

I think you've got it. These boots are about the boots as the footwear star and those kinds of outfits don't sound like where you want to go.
