Orphan top - Does this work?

I took this top with me to the So CAL YLF weekend and the group was divided about half and half over whether this was a Keep or Donate. There used to be elastic in part of the bottom hem - which drove me crazy - so upon Rae's suggestion, I removed the elastic. So . . . now does it work for me? For my style? For my age? (If you think it works, I'm open to suggestions for styling it.) Otherwise, just tell me to let it go and move on!

I think the top is very interesting and different. I like it. But if you are struggling to find ways to wear it, life is short - out it goes!!

It looks like you could layer it over a variety of tops, and maybe even wear with a belt.
I would keep!

I have to say I don't think it's a 10 on you. And if you're not lovin it, might as well wear your 10s. I know you have them, I've seen them in other WIWs!

Yeah. It's fine. But it's not Wow. Although maybe somebody else will have a styling idea that will make it click for you. Otherwise, I vote donate.

I'm not super fond of the "panelling" but do think that you are making it work the way you are wearing in these pics, Marley. The pendant, skinnies and boots also provide a nice "tougher" contrast with the girly vibe of the top. Having said that I think I would let it go.

What about layering a long sleave white T under it? Or even cream or light pink?

Hmm you have many amazing pieces in your closet Marley, but I'm still not feeling this one. I was a toss at the meetup, and while it does look better without the elastic I think you could safely consign this one. The gray jeans and boots on the other hand, are brilliant

I would probably try to elongate the leg line with similar-toned skinnies and boots (or flats), and maybe wear a bright colored tank under it for some excitement? I like the long pendant idea.

From what I've seen of your posts it doesn't look "hip" enough for you. I think it's the combination of the style & the colour - this style in a darker colour or this colour in another style may work but together they don't read like you imo.

I like it, as it's interesting and different, and it has this easy-breezy vibe. It look a bit summary though, seems a bit too light weight for boots?

Ok, I'll be a spanner, as Angie says, because I really like it! It's different but still attractive, and I think the elastic removal was a great call. I like the way you styled it here.

Keep and some suggestions from me to make this top work.
-Wear with a belt on your waist.
-Wear it with a front faux tuck/ half tuck with pants
-Wear it will full tuck in skirts, trousers.
-Wear with some belt and cardis.

Sorry, I'm not loving it. To me, it does seem a bit summary and disconnected with the rest of the outfit. I'm not sure if I'd like it better with different jeans or not.

I like it based on photos, it is a great foundation piece. I would actually wear a blazer over it. It would actually work for that patterned cami plus sheer top idea I've been thinking about too. I vote keep. This one is one of those items you need for supporting roles, they are not stars on their own but rather needed as backup dancers.

Why did the SoCal ladies voted it out? I'm wondering if we are missing something in the photos.

I'm not really seeing what is so great about it that you would wear it in place of something else, unless this is particularly your style and is making the kind of statement you like.
