Orphan Skirt and Out of My Comfort Zone

OK, so I am out of my comfort zone here. I bought this skirt pre-YLF (I loved the colors, pattern, shape...), but as of yet haven't felt comfortable wearing it.

Does this work?

As always, all suggestions/criticisms welcome. I am trying to improve!

I like the skirt a lot, and my favorite is actually the last outfit with the white-on-white striped blouse. I'm totally in a pattern-mixing state of mind lately. I love your wedge sandals, too.

Why do you think you haven't felt comfortable wearing it? Is the bright color a bit too far out of your norm? Is it a length or a shape that you don't feel confident in?

This look is so on trend and flattering to my eye! I love the colors and the stripes. My favorite pairing is the blouse in 7. I think I'd prefer the jacket versions with the lighter shoe. Do you have an aqua shell? I bet that would be pretty too. I LOVE the skirt on you and hope you wear it!

I love the skirt. For a first outing, is there anything you have - necklace, important earrings, scarf, sunglasses - that can bring one of the colors up toward your face? That always makes it loads easier to wear any bottom piece.

Gorgeous skirt, and I hope you start wearing it! I also really like the last outfit, with the sheer white blouse. Do you own a top in light apricot/warmer blush? Than you could have a tonal outfit like the ones in Angie's Friday blog post.

I really like this skirt on you and I hope you get more comfortable with it, because everything is right about it, the color, the silhouette on you, the pattern, etc. I also like the white-on-white striped blouse in 7-9, too, because there's a softness to the blouse and yet both are offering horizontal stripes/patterns to the entire outfit that is so appealing. I think you can also be happy with your first styling, too, as that looks nice, too. Yes, your skirt most definitely works!

@kg, I don't have an aqua shell, but just thinking about it, I think it would look really nice.

@Vildy, I really like your suggestion about bringing one of the colors (I would prefer the neutral tone) up to my face. I think it might bring more balance and grounding.

@Tanya, I thought about that with the warmer blush and I love that idea. I do have a woven button down blouse in sort of a darker peach. I tried it and didn't think it worked, maybe because it works better with something softer on top?

MTB this skirt is divine. I think styling it with the white stripe shirt is brilliant as it works beautifully. The white jacket looks great too. Do get this into regular rotation. It looks beautiful on you.

When you match a color, it's important not to do it at reading distance. You have to see how the original color looks at about 6 or 8 feet away. Colors resolve differently at a distance and are also, if in a print or juxtaposed with other colors, affected by them. Even grays, which are supposed to be neutral and by definition unaffected.

This is a great skirt, but I admit I would be stumped with how to style it myself as well. I tend to want to find a matching color right away. I think the last white striped shirt is a great choice and looks fab on you!

I'd say this was an orphan no longer...I think you've nailed it. I love the spotted blouse and denim jacket particularly well, although the tonal stripes is cute too.

ETA - Vildy's advice is great, too. I think adding a pop of coral in a necklace, headband, scarf, etc. would really make it pop...although it's perfectly lovely as is, too.

You have already heard the chorus of yays so I will simply add my own and say it is lovely and looks wonderful on you! I like it best with the striped top, too (#7) but also like it with the white jacket. Agree with Vildy's smart suggestion. I also think you could try aqua or turquoise with it. Or even your denim shirt, if you had that echo of one of the skirt's colours above.

WOW! Beautiful. And the combination of coral and beige is so very on trend. Don't hesitate to wear!

Like the others, I love it with the blouse in 7-9 -- awesome pattern mixing. But the sleeveless one looks great too! I also prefer the skirt with the lighter of the two sandals.

The skirt color looks wonderful on you and I do like both tops with the skirt. I'm the same with I introduce colors that our outside of my comfort zone. I have to ask myself if I will ever wear that item or I'm just loving the skirt for what it is.

I think it works well both ways, but love it in 7 best. The jacket in 1-4 is perfect and would work over another or same coral color top too.
