Orla Kiely Handbags

I keep looking at the Orla Kiely (hope that is the right spelling??) handbags on the Anthropologie site. Do any of you own one? Is it good quality? Any ideas where I might be able to find one at a lower price than 150.00 and up? I know ebay sells some but never purchased from the site and am a little skeptical of doing so.

Thanks for any info. you can offer.

Hi Nancy- Iwent on an Orla Kiely kick after getting a cosmetics bag at Anthrolpologie- I love her stuf, but I got my items ( purse and rainhat) on Ebay- much cheaper- they wear very well and the prints are really sassy! Good luck

Hi Lisamartin-Thanks for the reply. Glad to know they wear well and that you are happy with your purchases. Have you purchased your ebay items from the same dealer and if so, do you know the name of the shop/dealer?

I have not yet worked up the nerve to buy off ebay and am espec. worried about buying purses. If I knew that it was a legitimate site I would feel much more comfortable.

Hi Nancy, Just chiming in here to say that I bought a piece of the luggage from Orla Kiely a few months ago...and though I haven't had it very long, I put it through a couple of tough trips and I was so pleased and happy to have it and it really held up well. I find her things that I've seen and used, extremely well made.

I understand wrestling with the price of a handbag like that. I wrestled about the luggage too. And I haven't had a handbag from her. But perhaps it's similar to how I felt when I was searching for a little backpack that I really needed...and the only nice one I could find in the size I wanted was by Kate Spade and pricey...150. It was more than I wanted to spend at the time, but I got it anyway...oh, I asked for it for Christmas/my birthday (it's the day after!) The other day I happened to take a real good look at that bag, that I have USED nearly everyday for a year and a half, and it still looks brand new! That bag has been around too...and that fabric she uses, the nylon?...it hasn't ripped or anything. Zippers and straps, still strong. I was amazed...and realized I really got my money's worth. I say go for it...if you plan to love it for a long time, you'll save in the long run by not replacing it with ones that fall apart, which I did with that size backpack before I invested in this good quality one.

Thanks for your valuable input Juld. I am going to Indianapolis today and will look at the bags at their new Anthropologie store. I think I might treat myself to one at the end of the summer if I can control my other shopping (ha ha) It would be a nice goal to work towards. Glad to hear your Kate Spade bag has been a wonderful investment...have also looked longingly at those.

Nancy, that's great...let us know what you think when you see them up close and personal. I first saw her bags when a woman had one in Trader Joe's and I complimented her on her bag and she told me it's "Orla Kiely"...then I came home and did some googling. Sometimes my best "shopping" is when I have the courage to just let someone know I like their outfit or think that they look great....and they let me know what it is and maybe where they got it...hey, kind of like this forum!

I am using Orla Kiely accessories since many years. Orla Kiely bags are very durable and comfortable to carry. The style is also so unique. I simply love it.

If you still want to have one from Orla Kiely, this is the right time as many of the stores are offering discounts on them. You will get them at very reasonable prices which is otherwise not possible. I bought one recently.

Nancy, I was browsing my bookstore recently and saw a title "50 bags that changed the world", or something similar. Guess which bag was on the front cover? An Orla Kiely :). I haven't owned one but have often admired them :).
