Orange For Spring--Who's In?

Orange has long been one of my favorite colors to wear. It started in 1999 with a turtleneck sweater from Express. After that I was always searching the color out, but have managed to find bright tomato red much more readily (a color I also love).

So I'm REALLY excited about all the orange that is supposed to be in shops this spring and summer. I've already found the perfect orange lipstick, and I have my orangey-red pants. In addition, I want orange nail polish, I'd love to pick up a button-down shirt and several accessories like a scarf or belt. I have plans to DIY an orange striped clutch, although I'd love to find a proper handbag, too.

So what about you? Are you in for springtime orange? If so, what's on your list?

Look at the background cover for this month

I love orange - I'm Dutch after all. It doesn't love me back as much as I love it, though. So my interpretation is a very red-orange, like a tomato. I need an orange bag.

I wonder if you might look good in a lighter, creamier shade of orange? With almost salmon undertones (I know, that's pretty specific, hee).

I have an orange satchel (structured, à la Birkin) and an orange knit top, and I'm in! I don't think I look particularly fabulous in orange, but I'm up for the challenge, because I love it with navy!

I love orange - you cannot be sad wearing such a happy colour! I'm fortunate that I can wear orange next to my face, as long as it's bright. I'm thinking of looking for a nice flowy buttoned down shirt in orange or, like Angie, a bag. Shannon, I love both the bags you posted! The cayenne color is at my local Nordstrom, I will check it out when I pick up my pants that are being hemmed. I also really love the citrine color.

I think I started last year with some H&M orange skinnies, added on with an Old Navy orange & taupe sweater, and recently tracked down a JCrew orange and camel colorblock sweater.

I tried to get a JCrew sweater that looks a lot like Angie's new background, but by the time it reached my price point my size was done

I'm sure I'll add on a few things still, like orange bangles. . .

I have no idea! I've never worn orange anything, though I did receive an orange-y lipstick as a "gift with purchase" via Estee Lauder at the Macy's makeup counter awhile back - a colour I thought I'd *never* use - it's called "Nectarine" and I was surprised that it looked quite good on. It's not quite red, but it's not totally orange either. Looked suprisingly good with very neutral clothing (eg. black military style shirt dress, or a french blue button down with a chocolate brown casual skirt etc.) It was better than red lipstick for some reason with these more casual spring/summer outfits last season. Interesting!

I can get myself wrapped around the idea of an orange bag, belts, maybe even shoes! We'll see.

I am IN! I have an orange cotton sweater from J. Crew that I am wearing now. I would love to find an orange button down with a pattern. Maybe an orange belt or necklace....I am also on the look-out for bright yellow tops.

ETA: Angie, I have to say I'm quite intrigued by the orange and taupe argyle action! Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve :).

Had never worn the color until just a few months ago. I saw a 3/4 sleeve belted dress at Target that I decided to try. I got more compliments about that color on me than I could count. Then I found a rust orange corduroy pencil skirt that I also love. Turns out as a deep autumn that orange (except for pale shades) is very flattering on me. For spring I'm considering this scarf from Angie's blog post last week in the yellow multi.

I was going to post a similar thread! I'm so excited. I think I'm going to have to summon all my willpower to keep from buying everything orange so I don't end up with a closet full of head to toe orange outfits.

I had a bee-yoo-tee-fool orange velvet top once long ago, but had to send it out to pasture since I literally wore it to shreds. I'd love to find another bright and beautiful orange top this spring.

Count me in as well. Since it's a color I've not worn before, it seems fresh and exciting. Near the face it needs to be a rusty orange or veer toward coral to work for me. I'd like an orange bag that will work with spring/summer outfits.

I love orange but it doesn't love me next to my face. I once had an orange purse though and loved it! If I didn't already own a bright yellow one for summer, I would look for an orange one this year. Meanwhile, I will enjoy seeing it on many of you!

I LOVE orange. I really like it in prints and with navy or hot pink. First sequins and now orange - I'm going to be stocking up. Of course I have a decent amount of orange and coral already but am always open to more.

Ooh, I'm having fun reading through everyone's responses (and clicking on all the links, hee). I'm glad I'm not the only orange lover here. I can't wait to see everyone's goodies and outfits!

MNSarah, I think I have the same orange and camel colorblock sweater from J. Crew! Does it have a mock/funnel neck? I forgot I also have an ecru dress with big orange flowers on it. So I guess I do have a few orange things already. : )

VC, you should go for it with the orange lipstick! I love bright lips with minimal eye makeup. Thanks for posting the bag, it looks really nice!

Shannon, I saw the blazer yesterday and I LOVE it! I already have a bright red blazer though, and a cardigan in the exact same color, so I'm thinking about it and waiting to see if it goes on sale. It might just act as a duplicate for the things I already have, in which case it might not get much wear. I think it's a super cute casual option though. I could see it going with lots of things.

I do like a sort of muted pumpkin-ish shade, though, and can wear that as long as it's not near my face, or is in a print in something like a scarf. Belts, bags etc I can do - and I do like the colour ...

I went on a bright orange kick last spring so I've already got several items: button-up shirt, scarf, graphic tee, solid jersey dress, and of course lipstick (orange is one of my best colors). I have since added a striped tee and tomato-red handbag. I love bright orange, I'm totally in Really want a bright orange silk blouse!

I will sit-out orange; the closest is "coral" that works for me ... well, maybe someone can talk me into an orange belt

Orange is one of my fav colors and have worn various shades of it for years. I'll definitely be wearing it all next year! Bought an orange purse last summer, but will add to my orange collection.

Oh gosh! Squee! Orange is my favorite color. There was a period of time back in 2003-2004 I had a largely orange and coral wardrobe. Despite it being my absolute favorite color (I have a orange and yellow room in my house people!) I currently have no orange clothing. They tend to be favorite items and get worn out.

I absolutely love orange clothing, but I'm actually struggling as to how to combine it into my wardrobe this spring. Because I'm rebuilding my wardrobe (and on a budget) currently most of my basics are black or denim. While I've seen some successful orange-and-black pairings, it has to be just the right shade of orange to work on me and not come out looking like Halloween and doesn't seem very springy. So, I've run up on this--- 1) my natural reaction is to go out and buy a bunch of beautiful orange while it is popular and the selection is good (because I'm more than happy to wear orange almost daily for years, but I might earn myself another unfortunate nickname doing that), 2) However, if I go buy an orange blouse or bag, I also have to find an olive, navy, or charcoal jacket to go with it, and maybe another skirt or pants or I can only wear it with my jeans.

So, I'm celebrating, but am also welcoming suggestions!

These might be some inexpensive ways to add some orange this spring with your black and denim: white blouse, orange print scarf or wide orange cuff bracelet. An orange silk flower pinned to your jacket or blouse might work. An orange belt? Also, some white denim jeans would look good too. (ClearlyClaire found some recently at TJMaax) How about thrifting a "new" jacket?
A little bit of orange goes a long way for me. I know these are not "brilliant" ideas, but this is what I would try.
