Opinions wanted on new items (Angie's Trina Turk Coat, a Vince slip dress, a James Perse dress)

As long as I was doing my NAS photos, I thought I'd ask opinions on these. (And also which sunglasses you prefer if either.)

I'm not really going to wear these shoes with the dresses.

The Trina Turk coat is such a lovely weight and quality, but I think the A-line just makes me look too short.

Light green Vince dress -- I've been wanting a slip dress but they feel too bare on top. I like this as a compromise. Should I hem it? And generally what do you think?

Grey check James Perse dress -- I don't like how the front version of this photo turned out; I'm not that weird of a shape. I like the dress. But do you think the size is right for me?

Time is short so forgive my brevity:
Like both sunglasses.
Like the jacket A LOT. Great color and shape -doesn't make you look short.
LOVE the checked dress. If I were as slender as you, I'd be all over that one.
Would like the Vince dress if shortened like the model wears. I have a poison eye for maxis, so value/devalue my comments as you please.

Haven't read the other comments yet but here are mine:
I prefer the second pair of sunglasses on you. I don't mind the TT coat but it looks a little big on you - sleeves seem really long. I don't think it makes you look short . Love the JP dress and the size looks good. Not a huge fan of the slip dress. You have the body for it, but satin slip dresses strike a very lingerie vibe for me.....and show things that aren't even there . And.....this colour might not be your best? Sorry to sound so negative - probably my own personal fear of slip dresses rearing it's head

Both sunglasses look fine. The coat looks too big. I love the short dress. Really cute! The other is okay. Shorter would probably be more versatile.

It's hard to compare the sunglasses since the pictures are at different angles. The coat is very cute although closed it looks a bit wide at the bottom. Maybe not the best shape for those of us with wide shoulders.

Similar. I get that the shirt dress may be a little waist- surrendering but it looks fab. Very chic. I would keep if I looked like that!
The coat is a great color and style but it dies look too big somehow. Not a short thing. Just not quite right.
Not a fan of the long dress. I think you could do better.

I like the jacket on you. I think it is beautiful and flattering. Agree with Ryce about the checked dress, beautiful on you. About the Vince dress, I do like it as it is, at its current lenght.

I like the jacket on you but would try to have the sleeves shortened. I agree with LisaP on the Satin midi dress and don't really like it either. Somehow it doesn't do the price justice (at least in the pictures), it looks like it could come from Forever 21. LOVE the James Perse dress, total score!

Sunglasses - LOVE the second pair
Coat - I think the a-line is fun and lovely on you! And as you've done with the white jeans the column of color elongates you - though I think going for contrast with bottoms will also make for fun outfits.
James Perse dress - I like this and imagine it's probably hard to photograph. What are you thinking re: size?
Vince dress - LOVE it I can see you sitting in a café on the left bank with rosé in hand

I would go for the biggest sunglasses.
I think the Trina Turk does NOT make you look short but the sleeves seems little long. It looks like a very nice quality fabric.

I think the dress with the gathers looks great on you. Nothing weird on the front view.

I'm impressed with this slip dress. You wear it well and I think there's enough fabric on top. I'm not sure whether you should hem it.

I think you did really well with this round of shopping.

That James Perse dress is TDF, and I love the TT coat (but the sleeves do need to be a bit shorter). Not a fan of slip dresses in general, although the one you're wearing is a lot more flattering than most I've seen. FAB sunglasses!

The JP dress is fabulous on you -- love it! If you wanted you could try a different size for comparison, but really -- this one is great!

I also love the coat on you apart from the sleeve length. It does not make you look short. But the sleeves would need adjustment.

The slip dress -- I disagree with Lisa on the colour -- I quite like it. And I also think you wear it well. Still, I do share Lisa's slight phobia of slip dresses, period, and while this one is much better than most I see, it still has a bit of an air of the boudoir about it. Which makes sense, I know. So, take poison eye into account.

I am really having trouble deciding on the glasses now. I actually like both.

1. love the sunnies in the 1st picture
2. the coat, IMO, it's very nice, but not a 10. not sure if you are only looking for 10's
3 love the James Perse dress. fits great. love the twist
4.the maxi, what can i say, if i wear dresses at all thye are maxis. i like it as is, but i think i'd like it hemmed to the length on the model

I really like the James Perse dress on you. I'm undecided about the slip dress--I'd hem it, for sure. But, if it were I, I'd be uncomfortable with the way it's grabbing the belly button--and wearing shape-wear to fix that would negate the ease of the dress, IMO. But, that's par-for-the-course with slip dresses, though, right?

Sunglasses #2; great shape jacket, but perhaps need to size down; like the striped dress; you have the figure for the slip dress - but do you love it?

The Perse wrap dress looks exactly right-sized on you, and you look good in it. The jacket looks too big. I don't see any problem with the slip dress, but I'm not quite in love with it either. And for travel, I'd be leery of anything that hints even faintly of boudoir.

Another vote in favor of keeping--and wearing frequently--the Perse dress; it lools amazing on you!

Do you plan to wear some sort of topper with the slip dress?

The coat's style and color are wonderful on you, but it looks like it's too big for you, at least on my screen. Is sizing down an option?

I like the second pair of glasses- I prefer less embellishment. I like the jacket but it does look too big- I think you can do better.

Love the jp dress- gorgeous.

Re the slip dress- I know the feeling of wanting an easy elegant summer dress, but I don't quite feel this is it. I think a pattern, or more detailing, or a different neck would be better. I honestly think these very simple dresses are so hard to wear - on all shapes, sizes and ages.

I prefer sunglasses #1, love the extra bit of sparkle in the corners. Like a twinkle in your eyes. The James Perse dress is fantastic on you. I'm not really feeling the slip dress, it seems so plain in comparison to the other dress. I think the coat is cute on you! The sleeves may be a bit long, but that doesn't really bother me.

Both sunglasses look great on you. I prefer #2 for their very cool, yet fairly simple vibe. But if you are after glam, go for #1, with their gorgeous retro Hollywood look, dahling!

I love the James Perse dress on you. Looks like perfection to me, and very flattering on you. I can't imagine what you'd be looking for in a different size.

The Trina Turk coat. . . . Is it available in petite, and would you try it if it were? Just because the sleeves are long, and perhaps taking a little bit off the length would ease your concern about the proportions. I don't think it makes you look short, though.

The slip dress is fabulous. I think you might want to wear a slip with it, ironically (silk on the bias does tend to cling), and I would be in the camp to prefer it a little shorter, to about 3 or 4 inches above the ankle. I think it would look more alluring that way.

I can't really offer an opinion on the sunnies--I'd need to see them both straight-on.

I think the TT coat looks too big. I think you can do better.

I like the Perse dress.

I really like the slip dress; I think it is very flattering on you. I personally would keep the length where it is. I find that when the length gets too far above the ankles, I look stumpy and have to wear heels. But I am short (5'2").

No to the first sunnies, no to the slip dress. A possible yes to the jacket, if you take a size down. A big yes to the second sunnies and the perfect for you dress. Really like the blue shoes too.

The TT coat looks great on you and it's not in the least stumpifying. The sleeves are too long, but that's an easy fix. I also have this coat and between the volume in the body and the long sleeves it initially felt overwhelming, but once I had the sleeves shortened, it felt just right. I believe even Angie needed her sleeves altered.

The Perse dress is really lovely on you. Great pattern and super flattering.

The slip dress feels too lingerie-esque to my eyes and I don't love how it's fitting around your waist. I think you deserve better.

The TT coat looks small on the shoulders, Lisa. It's pulling across the shoulder and armpit - or do you need to pull it straight? (Sleeves are SOOO long and need alteration - mine did too).

I love both pair of sunnies. Have a slight preference for #1. I like the glitz. DIFFERENT.

KILLER short JP dress and light blue shoes.

Vince dress would look beautiful hemmed.

Sunglasses : #2, I find #1 too big - even taking into account they're oversized.
Coat : the sleeves bother me, too long, sure, but also looks like there's not enough room around armholes (and you only wear a tee underneath!) and too wide everywhere else.
Check dress : love it on you.
Slip dress : like the colour and fabric looks luxe, but the combo of slip+maxi also reads nightgown to me.
(Love the shoes).
