Hi Fabbers:)

I am keen to add an oversized black jersey dress to my wardrobe for winter. Something that can go go everywhere from work, to weekends but not special occasions. What do you think of this? It has a subtle hi low hem and I could imagine wearing it as a dress with tights and boots, maybe barelegged if not too cold and also over skinny pants/jeans.

What say you? Do you think this would work for me?

I think it's perfect for you. I love the neckline and the sleeve length. The hem height would work well for the uses you describe.

Very nice. It reminds me a bit of the All Saints dresses some other YLF's have posted. It looks worth a try.

If it's easy to obtain and return (shipping policies are good), I'd say go for it. Items like this look very different on everyone. I also have to feel the fabric in my hand, since it makes such a difference in a garment like this.

In my opinion, it looks like it fits in perfectly with your style - it is both simple and interesting and seems to hit the perfect note of not too dressy and easily styled in a variety of ways. As much as I personally love the second comparison dress, it looks dressier than the first one, as well as sort of "sweet" and lady-like (back to the dreaded controversial term). To me, the first one reads funkier and more casual and the second dressed up and more conservative.

Thanks, I like both! My only hesitation with the second one is the slight batwing sleeve. It can add a little to my already full bust and hips.

I like both of them Deborah - they're both gorgeous and both would fit your style. I can understand your hesitation with the batwing sleeve - I've been in a similar situation with a Country Road top but was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on (and bought it). So it could be worth a try, just to see how it drapes on you.

I prefer the second dress and I think the deep V would cancel out any attempts at bustifying by the sleeves.

Maybe I should order both Lyn. Returns aren't free but they are not expensive. Knowing me I will like both!! However the first one has more of the oversized vibe about it, which is what I'm looking for. Might sleep on it:)

Both worth a try. When I look at these, the first thing I think of is, how will the length work for a petite frame. I am always making that mental picture, but especially when looking at tops and dresses.

I like them both. My only concern with the second one is that since you are on the shorter side, do you think the V-neck will be cut too deep on you?

This is a great option. I prefer #2. I think the first one will just hang straight off the widest part of your bust and that, combined with the higher neck will be much less flattering than the V neck and the waist-shaping effects of the batwing pointing in to the torso of the second one.

#1 has a great casual look and #2 a tad dressier, I think you need to try them both on

Ok so #2 is a crepe and #1 a jersey. So I think #2 is out of the running. I have a lovely crepe dress that I do enjoy but I love the feel and give of jersey. Still thinking.

Deborah - I really like both. My mom is a busty apple and she had a badwing black dress and it looked divine on her. It all depends on the fabric and fit. I also love that kind of v neck because you can usually also wear them back to front. But you can't tell without trying them on. But big thumbs up on the concept from me!!

I like both in theory -- but until you try them, you won't know. The risks of the first one are that the neckline and overall shape will not flatter. Also, either could be wrong in length.

These are both beautiful dresses Deb and definitely work with your style. I think the first dress is a bit more versatile - it's a little less dressy so will work for casual wear and I think because it looks a bit shorter, will layer better with leggings, slim pants, etc. And the batwing sleeves on the second dress could overwhelm your shorter frame.

No good advice here, but taking lessons on selecting. I find I wear my jersey items much more personally.
