OPINIONS PLEASE: Pinterest "pin this" button for lookfab blogs

I notice that some bloggers are putting a Pinterest "pin this" button alongside their photos. So I was wondering whether I should make this an optional feature on the lookfab blogs.

So if you enabled the feature, a "pin this" button would appear alongside your photos in your blog.

Do people use these "pin this" buttons, or are they superfluous? Would you want them alongside your pictures if you had a lookfab blog?

(All this assumes that you want your lookfab blog to be public, of course. This feature wouldn't apply to people that keep their LF blog members only.)

I always use the "Pin It" bookmarklet (in my bookmarks bar) provided by Pinterest, I never really click on the other buttons. But I think it would be nice to have the option for those of us who do prefer them.

I've pinned some of my outfit posts in the past to generate publicity for myself so it doesn't matter to me! I don't use Pinterest anymore though...i think my friend list kind of ruined it for me and i'd rather be on Tumblr instead. >.>

Unless i'm looking for a delicious snack idea. Then it's Pinterest all the way.

I use Pinterest quite a lot, and find myself occasionally pinning from the YLF forum and from YLF blogs, so I'd use it.

Like Inge, I go with the Pin It toolbar button; but I wonder if it would be more helpful to have an in-blog feature for other platforms.

I have been using pinterest to pin outfits I am drawn to as well and would find it useful since many of my best inspirations outfits come from YLF.

Greg, thanks for putting so much thought and effort into continuously making this site even better and more user friendly than it already is.

I haven't yet maximized my use of Pinterest, but when I do, I usually use the Pin It bookmark. However, I could see this being useful!

ManidipaM, do you mean when someone is browsing on the iPad, for example? That's a great point because it is notoriously hard to install the bookmarklet on the iPad or iPhone, and in that case the buttons would be super useful.

I have now implemented this option. Lookfab bloggers can now go to the "Social Media" section of the blog settings and check the box to enable the "Pin It" buttons below their photos.

I have enabled them for my blog for the moment, but I'm not sure whether I will keep them in the long term. They definitely add a little clutter. But if the people who read your blog are into Pinterest, it may be worth it.

Would the pin option be applied to photos indiscriminately? I am not 100% sure I'd be okay with people pinning my outfit photos, since I show my face in all of them. Pinterest is closely linked with Facebook, and I don't like having my photos on Facebook.

Rae, it is an option under "blog settings". If you don't want the pin button then you can just leave it at the default setting, which is "off".

You can't switch the button on and off for individual photos. It is all of your photos or none of them.

Rae, keep in mind that even if you don't have the "pin it" button, people can still pin your photos easily just by capturing the URL of your blog or forum post. Just some food for thought. The pin just makes it a little more convenient to do so.

Kari's point is a good one.

Also, I should add that the "Pin It" button won't appear if your blog is "members only". It only works if your blog is visible to everyone.
