Opinions please... A dress for Xmas day

I'm looking for a dress to wear to a big fat family xmas lunch... Nothing formal. I want to wear something pretty and cool as we are in the height of summer and Christmas day is forecast is 28 C degrees.

I saw this and liked it but not sure on fit and style. I was thinking I would accessorise with silver jewellery and ballet pumps.

1 is a size down, 2 is a size up.

Would love your thoughts!

Pretty! I agree that #1 seems a better fit. I like your idea of silver jewellery and ballet flats, but my suggestion would be to wear ballet flats in a bright colour if you have them - perhaps red or or purple or cobalt blue (though of course red would be more Christmassy).

I think #1 looks good on you but I'm agreeing with Deborah. Something about the pattern & the elastic? waist that makes me pause. Would you wear this to work or out & about on more casual occasions? If you would then I'd like to see it styled

I like the cool gray print and the #1 sizing.
Would like to see full length styled with shoes.
Would this be your style or something a little longer/asymmetrical/flowy?
It's hard to figure since you need something cool and that's always harder for me than outfits with leggings or boots or tights.

I like it, Hil, and I think the neutrals plus the pattern make it workable for you. #1 is the one to get.

I can see where Debs and Caro are coming from in that the blouson style is unexpected and not your usual silhouette. But I'm also in favour of trying something new. I don't usually wear blousons and thought I hated the style, but tried one this fall and have actually fallen hard for its ease and adaptability. It does not seem to suffer from some of the issues I used to have with them -- riding up on me, not sitting right, etc.

I think #1 looks good, and it will be pretty with the red shoes. I could also see you wearing this over black leggings and with a black jacket in cooler weather.
