Opinions on visible bra strap?

I'm not a big fan of visible underwear in general. I try to avoid vpl, I don't buy tops that require unconventional bra strap configurations (although I'm on the lookout for a good cross-back bra, because I want to be able to buy racer back tanks), and I stare at a thong sticking out of a girl's pants in horrified fascination. HOWEVER, I wear a lot of sleeveless tops and tank tops, and sometimes a bit of my strap peeks out when I move my arms. Is this a massive fashion blunder, or no biggie? (I'm hoping for the latter, because I've been guilty of this for years).

I don't like it and avoid it when I can - the racer or crossback bra you mentioned needing helps. That said, life isn't perfect and sometimes the edge of a strap will show. Oh well, we're not on the catwalk is my thought.

In the context you're talking about, I can live with it. It happens. I'm pretty careful about it myself, because as an Obnoxiously Busty Woman, I worry that I can easily look... um... we'll say "immodest." But I don't care at all when I see it on other people.

It doesn't bug me when it's just a strap accidentally peeking out or a little bit of VPL. Honestly, it's just underwear and most people wear it. Now, I'm not talking about when the WHOLE bra strap is showing (like under a strapless top), of course. I do have SOME standards...

Anyway, I don't stress when my bra strap peeks out by accident. I am definitely team RATE though so that type of not-totally-polished thing doesn't bother me on myself or on others. Maybe it helps that I have a lot of pretty bras with pretty straps ... I do try to wear the ones with nice looking (in general, skinnier) straps with tanks with narrow shoulders so that if it shows, at least it's pretty!

As an aside, the thong sticking out of a girl's pants is gross... but I actually find it grosser when the pants are just as low and you DON'T see any underwear!

I agree with Mo. I bought these cool heart shaped things (it's a pack of 3 in nude, clear, and black) in the lingerie section of a department store that hold your straps in the middle of your back. They also have ones that are just a strap that are adjustable that would probably be more comfortable/ easier to use.

Over half my bras are either racerback or convertible in some way, so I must wear a lot of these tops and dresses and therefore need the 'specialty' bra configurations to make them work.
The visible thong situation is just wrong in every way. No pants should ride that low to start with . . .

Sometimes, when I throw my stethoscope around my neck, it catches on the edge of my shirt or something and shifts it over a bit for a bit of VBL. No one has said anything.

I think that with certain outfits, bra straps look nice when they are exposed. Like black on black, perhaps with a bit of lace. Red, purple, blue. Goodness, it's just a bit of pretty bra strap! Nothing indecent at all.

It's when the bra strap is flesh-toned that it looks less fashionable, and more like an over shoulder bolder holder. That I don't think works as well.

I’m so glad it happens to other people as well because I’m so guilty of this… It really bothers me too – especially with tank tops when the straps are hidden from the front and then peak out at the back. Ugh. Hate it. It’s my strapping back and shoulders’ fault – I’m so careful to tuck everything in properly and then they have a merry time shifting my bra straps around when I move my shoulders

My bra straps are always peeking out under strappy tops, however my bras come in a multitude of colours so it does look like the straps of another top peeking out, not sure I'd like it so much if they were nude and functional? x

I don't mind a strap peeking, but I really don't get AT ALL racer backs with regular straps or, what's worst, strapless tops with regular bras. I see that A LOT here in Barcelona. It's normal to wear a strapless top with a normal bra, which to me is nonsense. I mean, if you are actually wearing a strapless top, with all the consequences and problems (riding down, not staying up...), at least wear a bra that is strapless too, so the neckline looks strapless, which to me is the prettiest of all -bare shoulders I think are really beautiful on women-, but don't ruin it with straps!!! :S

Accidental slippage doesn't bother me a bit, either - it happens to everyone! Colored bra straps that have a layered look with a tank that has spaghetti straps also don't bother me. Other than that, I don't like to see people's underclothing.

Count me as another who doesn't mind a little accidental exposure, but if I find it's something happening a lot with a particular top, I use a bit of fashion tape to keep things in place. I also use it to keep button-up blouses from gaping, holding down an errant fold in a drapey item, etc. The stuff is awfully handy!

I don't mind accidental bra peeks on others, but I hate it when it happens to me in public. I only own nude bras. I had no idea that black bra straps were acceptable with spaghetti straps as a layering technique. I need some black bras!

And the verdict is: I'm not a fashion victim! Hurrah! Well, at least not when it comes to bra straps.
