Opinions on two handbags

It's not really a case of "I'm either getting this one or that one" -- I'm just interested to hear what you think of these bags I've been eyeing:

For this one, I would not be using the shoulder strap. Is it grandma-ish?

Bag #1 is ok, but not a wow bag to me. The print looks a tad like a heavy curtain pattern. I'm not sure it would be very versatile, seems more like a "wear with skirts and suits and silks" bag than a "jeans use on the weekends casual" bag. I like #2 more, without the dangles. However, once those are removed, will the bag be too plain (there's not much hardware on it without them)? It's the opposite of #1, it's a very casual bag and I don't think it will dress up well. What style of bag did you have in mind?

Oooh, I love the first bag but I agree with Lisa that it is much more formal. It's a real statement bag, so would go well with neutral work wear. As for the second, more casual bag, it's a very nice pop of color, so I don't think removal of the bling would be a problem.

I LOVE the first one! I'd treat that pattern like a neutral with no problem, I think.

I like the second one okay but I'm not a huge lover of faux leather bags so I don't think I'd buy it for myself. The color is fun but again, I worry about whether it would look cheap in a synthetic.

I think the 'blingifiers' is half of what the second bag is about. It does remind me of B Makowsky . . . The first bag, I really like the lock but the material is throwing me a little.

Hi April; my thoughts are that the first bag could easily become grandma-ish without careful planning. It is very refined and could furnish a lot of class to an already refined outfit but I think it could look stuffy with a casual outfit.

The second bag is gorgeous for casual; I especially love the high-contrast red lining. I too prefer the more simplistic viewphoto without all the drapey stuff!

I love them both so much!!!! The first will be great with or without the strap, not grandma-ish at all. I adore the turquoise one!

I'm kind of experimenting, by pulling up a bunch of bags and just going through them quickly to see what strikes my eye, and these two jumped out at me.

I'm not particularly confident in this approach yet, hence my questions about your opinions.
