Opinions on this Dansko boot?

I've had a wardrobe hole for a pair of brown boots for a while now. I just consigned my brown Frye Rorys (talk about GUILT!) because I simply could not get them on my feet without sweating so much I had to change afterward. I could wear them barefoot, but of course that really limited their use, even after having them stretched at the cobbler.

I know Danskos are not universally loved but they do work for me. I have been eying these, which have studs and a bit of a steampunk vibe:

What do you think? Do these fit my style as you see it?

They look fun, Una! They're a bit Fluevogish.

The only thing I wonder about is whether they're a bit retro for your style. If you think not, then I say go for them. You know you love your other Danskos. So the fit should be good.

Suz, that was my concern. I'm not sure if they are retro-steampunk (which is good) or retro-girly (which is not my style)... I do love the studs and of course, I love my current Danskos!

Ack, just realized the other color is not black but a burnished metallic grey (graphite). Needs vs. wants.... HELP!

I love them (unsurprisingly). They are on my wish list, but i am hoping they start making them in burgundy.

Umm I'm not a fan, Una. They remind me of those chairs you see in the wild west, where the leather making the seat is held with studs.

I love them. I think the oxford detailing and the small studs make it look more steampunk than girly.

Not girly. Even if you wore them with a lace skirt, leather bomber jacket, cool hat. Oh, now I want them.

Oh, Dang!@ I kind of indirectly dissed your babies... If I can plead my case, the Danskos you own are sooo YOU I don't give them a second thought, plus they are black. I think the effect is different in the brown.

I really like these for you!

But my vote would be for the graphite as a sleek black boot alternative. Do you really need brown? I never see you wear much in brown or any other earthy colors, really.

Rae, I am pondering that. I've done so long without brown, but I'm not sure if it would add some options or if that means I don't really need it. The graphite, on the other hand... could replace the quilted booties when they give out?

I vote for graphite too. I think you are like me in terms of color schemes and color tastes, and I never wear dark brown shoes. Although I suppose brown is more steampunk. Graphite is more UWP though. =P

As an aside, this is actually why I don't own more Danskos... so many of their styles only come in black and dark brown, and I don't wear dark brown and I find Dansko's standard black leather to look really weird and waxy, almost fake.

AG, I bet they would look steampunk on you because of your edgy style! With my more vintage, country wardrobe, they might just look too old-fashioned, so I think I'm going to stick with more modern, streamlined boots. I'm tempted by the laces & the studs, though! I think those old chairs Zap mentioned with the nailheads are a great analogy here: I really like them, but I have to be careful not to fill my home with vintage, sentimental items, & I have the same temptation with my wardrobe. (For example, I'm currently resisting the urge to get a pair of Dansko Professionals in tooled brown leather--I think I'l stick with my Dansko Ryders & plain black leather Professional clogs so I don't end up looking like a tooled Western saddle!)

I really like these for you Una - first, because you know that Danskos work for you and comfort is key. Secondly, style wise I would call them "retro punk" andI think that will work for you. Love both the brown and the graphite.

I like it. I'm trying to change up my retro style and go more edgy or sporty. these boots are pretty cool.

Love, love, love. They look like the boot version of the Ryders. On my monitor the graphite looks like a dark gray, so it might be a good substitute for black. Go ahead and order them, if only to report back to the rest of us.

Thanks, ladies! Angie, that's good to know. I went to the local place that carries Dansko but they don't have this style in. Looks like I'll have to order. Am torn between graphite (for obvious reasons) and brown (a bit of versatility). Am going to study my wardrobe to see if there are items I'm not wearing due to lack of brown footwear.
