Opinions on these dresses?

Hi!
I went shopping this afternoon and bought two dresses. I love them both, especially the long one.

This looks better IRL, as it's longer on me and softer.
And this in Black:

Well... husband said the print on the long one is a bit "old lady-ish". I was bummed as I really like it.
What do you think?

I love the second one. I am not much of a fan of the print dress but maybe it looks better on you than on the model.

Although I do not find the print old ladyish, I am not really liking it. I think it is the fabric itself that somehow does not seem to look just right. love the yellow one!

Always trying, I think the picture doesn't give it justice: the fabric is much less stiff than it looks like. Tomorrow I'll try to take a picture with the dress on.

Neither looks "old lady" to me.
The first one looks like ikat a bit--that's pretty trendy, I think.

I like the first one very much. In black, it would take you many places.

As for the second one, if my dh used the words "old ladyish" to describe a dress I bought, I would whisk it back to the store and look for something else, and I would expect the same consideration if he bought something I didn't like.

I don't think it looks particularly old-ladyish.

However, regardless of what we think on the forum, if your husband doesn't like it, how will that affect you? Would that take the fun out of wearing it for you?

Liz- his comment took away some of the Joy of having bought the dress. But then he said - well, the important thing is that YOU like it.
I think I am going to ask for his opinion again when I wear it.
