Opinions on the fit or potential fit of this Lafayette topper?

I was taken by the color and material but they only had a medium in stock (and I am an extra small). So the fact that it was way too big on me wasn't a concern; however, once I saw the image on Nordie's website I wondered...it still looks big. Do you think if one had the waist taken in and sleeves narrowed it would work better on an hourglass shape?

Hmmm, not sure but I tend to think that it's tricky to make something work with that big of a size difference, even with tailoring ... I would probably keep searching to find something in a closer size. Sorry

Did you mean to attach a photo? It's really hard to say without a photo of you in the item, but I agree with torontogirl -- chances are that if you are two sizes smaller than the size you bought, alterations wouldn't suffice to make it fit you properly. I'm guessing that the shoulders would be the deciding factor.

Oh no no. I mean, even if I got the correct size, the image on the website implies that the fit is baggy. I was wondering if anyone tried this on and how it fit for them.

Oh, sorry Em! I can't help there then, except to say I agree, it does look like a fairly loose-fitting jacket - again though, I would be worried about tailoring as it seems it would go beyond a little nip here or there, and more to changing the shape of the jacket. However, I have little experience with tailoring things so that could be part of the hesitation.

Ah, I see. You're still dealing with a shoulder seam that should sit at your actual shoulder, and also there might be an issue with the waist being too long for you, unless you have an unusually long torso.

That said, can you order it to see? Free returns…

You could order and return if it didn't work but that seems like a big size difference and lafayette runs big to begin with. And I don't think this jacket would be easy to alter.

It is a pretty lilac color.
The sleeves do look oversized out of proportion to the rest of the fit--that seems kinda odd. A potential issue with tailoring is if the armholes are also very big so that taking up the sleeves does not work well. But, you might have to try it. Also this is pure linen--do you have peace with the crease?

I love linen. In fact, this jacket material is the nicest I've seen in a long time.

But yes, in looking at the picture, it looks a little oversized. The sleeves are too big.
