Opinions on some outfit ideas for this upcoming date.

The guy I am dating (this would be our fourth date, BTW) wants to take me to this Italian restaurant that he likes, that he says can be either somewhat casual or somewhat dressy. I’ve never been there. We will also play miniature golf. That leads me more toward casual, but not as casual as we were at the fair. I think he will do the same.

I’ve basically decided on a multi-colored striped t-shirt with a denim skirt (style like #3 below, shade like #2 below, length like #2 and #3 below), and sandals. The sandals is where I could use an opinion.

My first thought was these sandals, almost identical in style to those she is wearing (mine are beige in color):

But, I am wondering if these would be better, similar style to mine (mine are white).

My lean, however, are some dressier heeled sandals, very close in style to these (mine are black). I like the idea of having one dressy item in my outfit while the outfit overall is somewhat casual.

I also considered an outfit like this one, same t-shirt I will be wearing above, but with the skirt as the dressy item (mine is also black) and the shoes casual, same style of Keds as in this photograph, but mine are white, and I would be wearing white socks. I am preferring sandals, especially #3, as indicated, but I haven't totally ruled this one out, either. I would be interested in opinions on this one, as well.

He seems to be looking forward to this date, as am I, so I would like to be somewhat casual yet look nice at the same time. Do you agree with my preference for #3 or would #1 or #2, or even #4, be better, in your opinion?

The "somewhat dressy" makes me lean toward the Sandal options rather than the sneaker (which would be my choice for mini-golf.) I like all of the outfits you posted. Have fun!

If it were me I would wear some kind of dressy flats. I think it would be hard to play miniature golf in shoes with heels.

These multi-activity events are tricky. I would dress for the dressier portion of the event. Wear flats for the mini-golf and bring a dressier pair of sandals for dinner. The shoes can really change the feel of the outfit. I really like the skirt in #4 paired with a t-shirt.

Question: Does your lean toward the third sandals sacrifice comfort for style? I am a guy. If I was taking you on this date I would appreciate you wanting to look good for me, but if I saw your focus mostly on where and how you step instead of on golf, that would take some of the fun out of it for me. Seeing you have more fun in casual flats would mean more to me than looking a little nicer. Just a guy's perspective.

If you are super skilled at walking in heels that you can concentrate on your golf than on your walking, then 3 would be the best, but the second ones are very, very close in dressiness, so they still get the job done that you want.

The first ones are also a great choice even though they are more casual. Because you are wearing a skirt, and I am sure others at dinner will be wearing flip flops, you should be fine even with them. The fourth outfit is also a fine choice. I'm sure he would be pleased with any of the 4 looks. I know I would be :-).

An idea, have you considered the skirt in the fourth outfit with the sandals in the first?

That's actually what I ended up doing after reading your suggestion, and it went over very well. I meant to get back on here sooner to let you know that it worked.

That ended up working to my advantage. He asked me of there was a restaurant I particularly liked, and I knew of a seafood restaurant that isn't necessarily suit and tie formal, but a little fancier than the one he took me to in my thread starter. We went there the following Saturday, and that's when I wore those heeled sandals, with one of my dressier sundresses. He was surprised when he first saw me in that, so it worked out a little better.

We played miniature golf then, also. After we left dinner, we passed a course, and her asked if I wanted to stop, so we did. Why not?

To the date I originally posted about, he wore a dressier polo shirt, khaki shorts, and casual loafers.

BTW, I have no problem playing miniature golf in heels. Although I mostly wear casual/flat shoes LOL, I have worn heels for mini golf a few times before when something else warranted it, though it has been a summery sandal. I could wear pumps with no problem, just had no reason to do so when playing miniature golf.
