Opinions on cuffed pants please

Hi all, I'm working up to some style posts and have doubts on some items. These wide-cuffed greeny-grey pants are one. They're from 2012, weren't worn much as I had bought a different pair of similar colour I ended up liking better on the same day. But those died in 2016. I had paid $90 for these so forced myself to wear them more. I like the colour but find the stitched cuff leg-shortening. Here are pics of outfits I do or would wear with them. What say you, keep, alter, ditch? Now at 25 wears so under $4 CPW.
Pics: 1. Close-up of cuffs.
2. With gold singlet under "skull top" ( lace, but skulls on their side). Dressier white mules.
3. Same but flat shiny green sandals.
4. Newer green sleeveless top, holding jacket I'm not sure about ( old, 2010)
5. Same wearing the jacket. Please excuse floppy collar- DH was taking the photos and obviously didn't notice. I have caused him enough hassle so won't do it again.
6. Old 2009 puffed sleeve white top.
7-9. Alternative earring choices with newer green top.
10. Another white top under "skull top".
11. Pink/blue camo Trenery top with matching pale pink leather sneakers and pale pink beaded earrings.
12. Close-up of cuff to see if alterable?
13. This may be my favourite- new green top with the green sandals.
I'd also like opinions on the white puffed sleeve top and the soft green jacket. Both old but not that many wears- say 10 for puffed sleeve and 20 for jacket.

Thanks for sharing these pics! For wiw I think these pants are fine in terms of length and cuffs. I don’t think they’re too leg shortening.
I prefer them with the sneakers or the green sandals- for some reason the white mules aren’t quite doing it for me, but feel free to disregard what I say!!
I think $4 cpw isn’t too bad really.
So in conclusion I think these are good to keep if worn with the right shoes.
However you didn’t mention- do you like them? Are they comfy? Is there a happiness factor or do you find wearing them a chore?

I like all the versions (4,5,13) with the newer green top. Love the white shoes. The top in 11 is the least successful combination to my eye. I’d try the puff-sleeve top with other bottoms, perhaps a skirt in a print, or with other fun detailing.

Oh thanks Jussie. I think I'll like them as pic 13, and pretty happy with 10 and 11. They are really comfy. It was a "force myself" after my other preferred ones from the same day died, but I got to like them more over time. If I could wear another 5 times I would be even happier but I agree 25 times and under $4 is not too bad. They don't spark "joy" but they don't spark hate.

I’m wondering if the should be shorter? They are about resting on top of four/ hence not as good with the high- vamped shoes, and the width makes me want them longer or shorter. Maybe?

I like them best with the your open shoe choices, like sandals, and I think the color is really pretty on you and very wearable.

I don't think the cuff adds enough style wise to justify the weight it adds at the bottom and I would probably have them hemmed.

Haha maybe they spark “ambivalence” lol. I know the feeling. It’s hard to find pants....

I love them with #13 (shoes and top) but I think the cuff is leg shortening. I probably wouldn't mess with the cuff and hang onto them until I found something in the same color with a more flattering leg.

BTW, I love those white mules. It's not my favorite shoe with those pants but they're adorable.

They look really nice with the newer green top, I think. The mules are really fun! You could hem if the cuff bothers. I have this issue too with deep cuffs. The curse of a shorter self! I don't think it looks bad on you at all when the proportions are right -- but I know that for myself I am always *feeling* a wee bit off with a cuff like this. I do really love the colour for you. Nice earrings, too.

Thanks Unfrumped, Isabel, Suzanimal and Suz! I'm not sure what you mean by "about resting on top of four", Unfrumped- typo for floor? Seems split opinions on the cuff. I didn't think about the cuff when I bought them way back when ( have learned heaps about figure flattery since) but maybe the cuff was why I didn't like them for a few years. Go Jussie, "sparks ambivalence" is so true!

It really depends if you like to wear them. I would put the new green top with the white mules - I think they are a titch long for sneakers and flats.

"Feeling" a wee bit off is probably it, Suz. I'm lazy re clothes... and maybe I can happily wear them another 5 times to hit the #30 wears, and note for the future that the colour suits me but the cuff doesn't.
And to Suzanimal's point, I've just been at the mall for a different reason, and while I was there looked in a few shops, and one had similar coloured pants with no cuff that were not too expensive. I didn't try on, as I have enough other pants for now, but it's good they exist!

Thanks Shevia, that one can be a work combo while it is still summer. I like wearing them well enough. They don't make my heart sing, you know? But the new green top does

I am kind of middle-of-the-road on the cuff: it doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look like an intentional style decision either. I am wondering with unfrumped what the cuff would look like if it were higher on the leg.

I think Kelly at the blog Alterations Needed sometimes is able to wear pants that have been cuffed on the inside rather than the outside, to avoid hemming costs. Will the cuffs stay if you roll them up on the inside? You could maybe even use some fashion tape to get them to stay.

I love how you are matching the green tones. I love minty shades of green.

I really like no 13. Love the top and the hint of green. And I like the cuff on the pants. I’d wait to see if Angie says anything about the length.

#13 is my favourite look too. I like the column of colour on you and the cuff works in this look. These greens are very pretty on you and a nice change from brights, which also look lovely on you.

However, with #2, I find the layered top and cuffs on the pants create too many horizontal lines and so the cuffs do shorten your leg line especially with the contrasting and high vamp shoes. Nevertheless, they are great shoes.

Good point Bijou,thank you! In fact that effect seems reduced with the other layering outfit pic 10. I suppose because the underlayer is white like the skull top, rather than gold.
Too many horizontal lines is definitely an issue in pic 2. I hadn't realised.

I think they fit you well and have a beautiful color. Like previous commenters I prefer them with low-vamp shoes and open sandals (those shiny green ones are gorgeous!). It looks great with the new green top and the white skull top with white layer.

Hmm, well, I think they look great with the new green top (I like that jacket too!). As far as shoes, I think I like them best with the mules (lower vamp). If you are ambivalent, maybe it is worth chopping off the hem and making them straight ankle-length pants; not much to lose, right? I really like the colour and the fit looks good otherwise, so it seems a shame to give up on them.

I like them best with the green sandals, I think they need more skin showing at ankle. Try Gigi’s idea.

I like the pants best worn really casually, as in pic 11...and with a slightly loose fit top. Looks most modern to my eye that way.

I am ambivalent. I rarely see cuffs anymore and that could be swaying my vote, but my vote would be donate.

My problem with the cuff is not the size but the shape (A line down to hem). I often have this problem when cuffing wide/boot leg pants. So think the cuff would look better if the legs would be first somehow straightened on down legs(say from knee down) and cuffed only after that, if that makes sense, so the cuff to be straight. But that's only me, if this doesn't bother you it's all OK! I esp loved nr 4,5,6&13! Brilliant top, shoes and layering jacket! Wow!!!

I can see how these can be really useful pants in our climate and with your work and lifestyle Jenni - and I think with the green top they make a nice outfit. I think the longer tee gives the best proportions and I like some ankle showing.

I tend to think they need to be a bit shorter, just above or at the ankle. I think I would either try and do this myself or go to a tailor - I suspect a $15-$20 cost. If the colour and weight and fit are right then I think either removing the cuff or narrowing it is worth it for a fresh pair of pants.

Not sure. They ARE leg-shortening. So if you keep them, I'll say: Don't wear them with coloured contrasting shoes, which also "steal" attention as well as length. Instead, wear grey or white shoes, which bookend your hair.

The grey colour is great for you. I think the best look here is #4--that top (shape and colour) looks very nice with the pants.

Your white shoes are lovely--with anything.

Cheers everyone. I gave them another spin at work today as below but pearl earrings as in other pic below. That made 26 wears. I'm keen to know what Angie thinks before I look at altering them which I may do later this year as Sal suggests, for a "fresh pair of pants".
