Open-toe boots with socks or tights?

I am eying these Docs in grey:

for summer. But I'm a little concerned about the chill factor and would like to be able to wear them through fall with tights or socks. Is that completely off-base? Since summer is not my dominant season, I want to be sure these will be useful and dressy enough for work (my own office, but still!).

hmm, I don't think socks will look good with this since they almost look like sandal wedges. Maybe tights will work...

Well, socks with pants. Or can I wear these with pants? Summer shoes confuse me!

socks in the same color family and tone, with pants. super fun.

open toed booties/ boots confuse me in general. talk abt seasonally confused! iit took forever to find my 1 pair...they look more like high vamp shoes rather than booties.

Hmmmmm...I can see these with tights and skirt/dress, but not sure about socks. I'd wear these with pants myself, as long as the hem of your pants doesn't get caught between the bottom of your foot and the shoe - I hate that!

Una, I can totally see you making a statement (a cool one, at that) in these summer boots with tights and a cool skirt/frock; however, I think if is it cold enough to wear socks then you would just wear another pair of real boots?

Personally, I don't see a problem wearing socks or tights with these. We see girls wearing socks with sandals all the time, and these are more of a shoe than a sandal. I don't think the socks need to be in the same color family as the shoe either.

I agree with Heather. I wear socks/hosiery with peep toe boots only if the peep was small; if it's pretty open (and shows several toes) and it's cold enough to warrant socks or tights, I'd just wear closed footwear.

I think what this is telling me is that these shoes do not make sense for me. Too bad because I love them, but realistically it is rare for me to wear sandals or open-toed shoes more than 6 weeks of the year, except on vacation.

Oh, well, the search goes on...

I am showing my fuddy duddy side...I am not sure I love the shoes. But I do think that if anyone can wear them (whether with socks or tights) and carry off the look, it would be you!
