Only one pair of work pants... Style twins/Canadians help please

Hi possible style twins and all Canadians,

Do you have any advice for where to get some cheap ($50 max) business casual appropriate pants in Saskatchewan? Heavier weight fabrics would be nice since we have some pretty cold weather here: It's currently in the -30s (celsius) and the next month and a half will probably stay that way. :'(

If it helps, I'm 5' 71/2" and slender with long limbs and a high waist that isn't that defined but I also have a curvy backside and front curved thighs. I also tend to have this problem in the rise: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jlCg.....chuman.jpg

Any advice would be appreciated. I need to get another pair of pants to wear asap!

Have you tried Melanie Lynne or Laura's? (Both are business attire/dressy retailers available in many shopping malls, but not sure about Saskatchewan.) Sales are great right now! Also, for your price point, Sears, Reitmans, Suzy Shier, Smart Set, or Jacob may have something for you! Online there are usually lists of where their stores are located!

ETA: Forgot to mention online shopping possibilities! Check out who ships within or to Canada.

. . . and I have that same problem in my frontal area! Now that you've mentioned the thighs, I wonder if their size (at least mine are big and strong AND curved in front) means that we're proportionately small in the crotch, so there's extra fabric that doesn't get to 'fall' because of the thighs. . .

FWIW, I've had reasonable luck with on sale Jones New York and Max Studio work appropriate pants. Mine have often come from Macy's and some from Marshall's, but I don't know your Canadian equivalents.

Have you looked at Banana Republic? I really like their Martin fit skinny trousers I have but if skinny is not work appropriate for you they have other styles. You can order online, they have free shipping and returns and also they have frequent sales.

MNSara- I don't think we have those stores around here but I'm glad to find someone to commiserate with about those thighs, lol. I think you're onto something with the crotch fit theory. Now if we could only find a solution!

Sorry Nadia, I'm not help, but good luck! It sounds like you need some good lined wool trousers for sure (and silk long underwear under them)!

Do you have a Ricki's? They have talls (and extra talls) if you get them online. They also have really good sales and clearance, so sometimes I get them for less than 20.00. I'm not sure if they are heavy enough weight, though. You can check online to see what they have.

Yeah, Nadia, and I just remembered that Emily (Cupcakes & Cashmere) has thighs that are quite curved - considering how slender she is. Now in your pic, she is wearing Gap mens pants, but maybe her thighs are contributing to the fabric bunching.

Melanie Lynn, Laura, Jacob, Banana Republic, Club Monaco- Boo! They have stores in all the provinces around us but not SK. Discrimination!

Suzy Shier, Smart Set, Ricki's. Le Chateau- Here's hoping there are some good sales at these stores.

The Gap, The Bay- Just thought of these two to check out.

Now I'm going to do some store site surfing...

I think GAP might be your best bet for now. I found some work pants on sale, but they are $1.99 more than the $50 max price point - I'm figuring that a $2 difference won't matter that much.

And also try these, even though they are a bit pricier than $50 - they're pretty good pants, and you might come across a sale or coupon - in any case, if you can get to a GAP store and try some of these on, it's worth the hassle - when a coupon or sale comes along, you'll know the style and size you want from having done the research ahead of time. Try the GAP 'premium' pants:

Ricki's is having free shipping over 30.00 right now, too, so you can order and return whatever you don't want to the store if you have one locally. Good luck finding some!

Aw, velvetychocolate! You're making me want to do a major shopping trip at the Gap. Both of those pants are really nice! I love the straight leg on the $51.99 pair and the colour of the second pair is really sweet. But I *really* need to keep my budget down so it's going to be clearance items only at that store I think.

I have not had good luck @ Smart Set or Reitmans (same branch of store) - I find that their quality is poor, esp for something like dress pants that you wear a lot of.

Also consider RW&Co which is having a 50% off last label price sale right now

Just wait until they (the GAP I mean) have one of their 40% off everything sales That's why I recommend trying on all of their pants, so that you're in the know when a sale pops up. If necessary, take notes (literally, write down the style and size of the pants you like, and file away in your wallet or purse) in the store changing room as to which pants in which style and size fit you best.

In the meantime, just out of curiosity, I went looking on the Bay website, and found these (which I think are very nice pants) - they are $4-something more than you'd like to spend, but what do you think?

Meanwhile, over at the Ricki's website - I could hardly find a pair of pants that was over $50 (some really great prices!) so you might have excellent luck there. It's been awhile since I shopped for clothes in Canada, but I did find some things at Ricki's recently (this past summer) myself when I was in a big hurry to find some items during a very hastily planned and badly packed-for trip.

Lands End is another possibility. They ship Canadian orders from Canada and their delivery time is very fast. Also, what about Eddie Bauer - it might be too sporty but maybe worth a look. I second the recommendation for Banana Republic, and their online ordering is very good too.

Well I went to one mall here and checked out all the stores. Luckily it had heated underground parking or I would have been stuck at home: the weather is bitterly cold right now!

I found a few items at Ricki's which i'll take pics of soon... (Just not tonight. I managed to get in a car accident- the other guy's fault- and I'm all shaky. Not injured though.)
