one tango dress and K/R Lucky Brand wedges?

Hi, all. Don't get excited. This Max and Cleo dress does not fit me, in the largest size I could find. It is extremely tight around the bust and I couldn't close it. Had it been a better fit, I'm still not sure, with the intricate lacy low-cut construction in the back, how I would have worn this, with what type of bra. But I would love feedback on whether I'm on the right track with this. Probably for a lot of women, this would be a lovely dress for dancing. On me, I feel like it makes me shapeless, probably because I'm a petite apple. Need more structure. And do you think it's too long? They didn't have petite sizes. I could hold onto it (or try and reorder) if I lose weight; that's an IF on whether my bust would go down enough. But anyway, I am not thinking this is a style that would work for me.

The shoes are the Lucky Brand wedges Janet recently posted here. They look great on her. I'm not even sure how to style them, maybe I need to buy a summery dress or skirt (I don't even own one!). But if they're meh, why bother? I like them, they certainly make me taller, and they seem comfortable, but I want 10's in my closet at this point.

Hm, first reaction is that the dress would need to be shorter to counteract the flowyness... if there is no petite option, that kind of eliminates it in my eyes, since it's not something that can me hemmed. :T

The sandals look great! I could see them with a great many things!

The sandals look like you need to slide into them farther. And are they for dancing, too? If yes, I would be afraid they might fly off.

No, the sandals are definitely not for dancing. For tango you need a t-strap or Mary Jane type of shoe precisely for that reason. The wedges seem to completely contain my heel, and the peachy-silver straps (whatever you call them) are stretchy and I feel they're holding my feet in. But thanks for the tip.

I think you are on the right track with the dress even if it is not "the one". I like the color and the flow of it, even if it is not the right size or length.

I do like the sandals. You will be surprised how easy these are to style, but I am just not sure about them. I don't feel like they are 10s. 8s yes, maybe 8.5. Not really a 10 though.

Mochi, I love you in red! Even if this particular dress doesn't work, I love you in color. You have a sparkle in your eyes, and I felt like the black was tamping you down a little, if that makes sense.

It may be an optical illusion, but it seems like your feet aren't fitting all the way into the sandals, especially the left foot. They aren't 10's to my eye.

This is not THE dress, but now you have an idea of what to look for - I think more fitted and still flowy is the way to go. This is a fab color!

I like the sandals. I think you should keep them but not wear them, and every time you get dressed see if you could sub them in for the shoes you wear. If you find you'd reach for them that way, then KEEP!

I love you in a dash of colour! I do like the idea of the dress but feel it is too long everywhere which is probably why there is trouble with the up top bit.
Do you like this style of dress or or you happier in something more fitted?
I really like the wedges but agree with the some of the ladies that they look too long. Can you try sliding forward and doing a new photo?

The color is fantastic! In general fit has to triumph over color but boy, if you can get a color like this, it really lights you up. That is definitely something to work toward for your dress capsule if you find your ideal dress.

Is there a lot of armhole room? If so, a dress can be "shortened" by taking up the shoulder seams a bit. However in the best of circumstances that would only take off an inch or so in length.

I do like the move toward a fitted bodice and a more flowy skirt portion.

Love the color and movement in this dress! I think movement in a dress, as long as it doesn't get tangled in your partner, is wonderful for your shape and for the tango. Not the one, but it gives you some more information to focus your search.

I'm loving Una's suggestion for the shoes!

The sandals are really nice, I love the metallic. Are they meant for dancing or are you just asking for normal wear? I would think they would slip off for dancing, but I think they would be great for summer.

I love the red color on you too, but yes this is not the best dress.

I am in full agreement with Alaskagirl and think you're on the right path and fine-tuning the tango dress search. Yes, a more "fitted flowy" is the way to go. I also like her suggestion on bringing in the wedges, when dressing, to see if they'll work for you.

Thanks again, everyone. Joy, all the wrap dresses I've seen seem to be long-sleeved; is that how it is? It would be too hot for a crowded dance hall in June. Otherwise I agree that this is a flattering style.

Oh, and after Angie recommended Tadashi Shoji, I fell madly in love with this dress. If I can lose another size or two, particularly in the bust, I would reward myself with it in a heartbeat:

Agreeing with the others -- the dress is such a lovely colour, and the idea of it is pretty good. How about a surplice style - a faux wrap - where the "waist' is right below the bust similar to empire but not as much gathering? And a V neck? With flowing fabric below?

I concur with the comments about the sandals not looking quite like they fit -- it must be an optical illusion if they feel good.

Well umm actually I love the dress on you! If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit, but I think this style looks great. Of course you may want to dress to please yourself and apparently everyone else rather than just me. On the other hand, I am not crazy about the shoes. Your feet don't seem to fit all the way in them and the toes don't go forward enough, at least in the picture. But silver shoes are a great idea for you. Well take all that with a grain of salt, maybe I am just in a contrary mood this morning?
