one pair of heels for the next 5 years - patent

I have written before that I have on my list this winter a pair of heels. I don't wear head heels often - it might get worn once a fortnight for 6 months of the year. I had some great suggestions of metallic or grey shoes which I am still definitely considering.

Looking around the small resources of my town I had a look at some hush puppies and then online Quite like the look of

Anyway they are both patent. Am a bit worried it wouldn't last, especially since I often have to kneel down to deal with kids.
Have I just talked myself out of patent or are scratches fixable?

Personally I like the idea of patent, because they can be mixed into dressier ensembles as well as more casual ones. Yes, scratches are fixable, at least I'm fairly sure they are!

I own the first pair of heels; the "Janet" - I just use some patent restorer and that solves my scuffs!

I may have used spit once.

My patent heels have often held up better than softer leather ones. Go for it!

Cute shoes Anne. I really like the first pair! I have a few pairs of shoe with some patent on them (Me Too Swanns). I don't find the scuffing on them a problem at all.

I have three pairs of black heels and they are all patent -- I like how they can transition from fall to spring... somehow, shiny says spring to me. They have held up well, and I sometimes wear them every day of the week.

Both shoes are nice, but I think I prefer the first. Trying them on should help you decide, not all HPs fit the same. Patent is very versatile and you can care for it pretty easily.

Another trick that I did a long while ago that worked (I don't own patent right now but would) was when I had a long scratch, I used black marker along the line then patent restorer to polish up the shoes -- it was barely visible unless actively looking for that scratch.

Wow - lots of positive encouragement here! I think I prefer the first one too.
I will absolutely have to try them on. My fussy feet will not cope with online ordering.

I find my patent shoes are oddly enough more durable and can handle rainy days with less worry than my leather one's. Good luck!

Lots of patent positivity. Looks like my shop does not have the Janet. I suppose they could bring them in, but I am quite keen to buy these shoes in the city where I have vouchers to spend.

Went to Rivers and could find a couple of the ones Karen posted. However not comfortable. Also have had bad experiences with Rivers quality in the past. I guess in shoes (not clothes) I am a bit of a snob and prepared to pay
