Laura (Rhubarbgirl), There seem to be several issues with jackets. I have difficulties with vertical proportions for some reason. I have a high rise, and relatively short legs but I am tallish at 5"9". Despite my height, many jackets make my legs look stumpy. I also have difficult finding one where all the parts come together and fit me as they should, meaning that the shoulders fit, the sleeves are long enough, and the torso is narrow enough. Typically, if the shoulders and sleeves fit, the torso is very wide and requires a significant amount of tailoring which then can change the overall look of the jacket. I also have a hard time with collars. Large collars do not work well because I have a small face, and anything too stiff looks strange on me for some reason.
One last fit issue has to do with a boxy fit. I seem to have trouble with anything that looks boxy. I look like I am wearing a paper sack. I really need to have something with shape.
