One may be wacky and one needs help with bottoms

Inspired by MaryK's sequined vest paired with a checked shirt, I decided to try dressing my ON black sequined vest with my J. Crew blue and white checked shirt, teal boots and then with Harley-Davidson black boots I got at our clothing swap this past summer. I almost think I like it better with the black boots as the colored boots are a bit too much. Your thoughts and styling suggestions?

Next up, is an amazing white jacket I bought on El Paseo in Palm Desert a few years ago and although it leans toward me looking like I'm a part of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, I still love it, but I'm not sure what to wear on the bottom. In the past, I've worn it with jeans to a concert. But, here I simply paired it with a column of black and added my Anthropologie wedge heels. Marley suggested gray skinnies. Anything else you can come up with to make this jacket sing for me?

Picture 3 is so rock 'n' roll, Vicki, LOVE it!! I love the pairing of the sequined top with that lovely gingham shirt (am seriously considering a gingham or plaid shirt myself;-) and I too like the outfit best with the black boots. It's a stronger and sleeker look in my book.

What a fun and unique jacket. The column of black works really well. I was also thinking black, grey or blue skinnies, perhaps with flat or heeled oxfords, or tucked into knee-high boots?

To my conservative eye, the colored boots are too much. Other YLFers may think differently, and that's perfectly fine. I absolutely LOVE the jacket and can picture it working over numerous columns of color--red, for instance. Why limit yourself to black or gray? The only thing I'd caution about is that you should keep a slim silouette underneath the jacket, as you've done in these pictures, and go simple with everything so the jacket remains the star of the show. Hope this helps!

Love these! I think you are right about the black boots with the sequined tank - the black moto boots seem to "bookend" the rocker vibe of the sequins, whereas the teal boots are less rock and more rugged.

I think that white coat is amazing and will go with many things! What about a bright pencil skirt and knee boots?

Vicky, I think I like the black boots best too, for outfit 1. I do have a sequined top and a plaid shirt. I must look into this too.... lol.

I like the coat. white eyelet is always more summery to me - which is right for CA all year long - in that sense, I's like to see it paired with light denim and bright summery colors. I like how you styled it as well.

The full outfit in #3 is gorgeous! I love how playful it is, and it has just the right balance to me, with a few strong, bold elements grounded with some good solid supporting players. Really gorgeous!

Your white jacket is beautiful too. I can imagine that it would look great with jeans for a concert. I like it a lot with the black. I'd stick to the column of color unless I'd added in a white element elsewhere, but I"m a really conservative dresser. Honestly, I would love to see this over a sheath dress with a pair of taller boots or dressier ankle boots, ones that look more like a very high vamp shoe or oxford rather than casual boots. I bet it will look incredible!

LOVE #2/3 (boots with leather jacket). And the second jacket is lovely! It's white, wear it with anything I especially like the idea of colored skinnies with it. And those black wedges are gorgeous, what are they?

Vicki - you're killing me! #3 is just too cool for school. I can't hang out with you anymore because I'm going to look like Ms. Frump-a-loo next to you! Boo! You already know that I love the white jacket - I can't think of anything that I wouldn't try it with - just experiment and have fun. Oh - and those black wedge shoes? I'm proud to have the title of "wing-woman" when you decided to go for them - they're gorgeous!

Vicki, you can do no wrong with fashion! As far as styling the beautiful white jacket, my first thoughts were what Ruth wrote...wear it over any slim column of color. I was also thinking of the jacket over those polkadot pants that Una posted today. Another idea would be to play with an all white/ivory outfit featuring different textures. Since the jacket is very textured, how about using white leather or white tuxedo pants and a silky or sequined top with it for a dressy occasion.
