One last boot to try? - YouLookFab Forum

I got the MM Flynns and Fergie Mixture boots in the mail today. The Mixtures were just very slouchy around my ankles and I didn't like where the calf hit. The Flynns were... fine. They fit well and were even a bit distressed. But as I told hubs when he asked how it went, I don't want to hug and cuddle them. The outfits I built around them don't make me want to strut or kick butt. I can't even articulate why I'm not sold, but it's not love.

Seriously, it's been so oh so hard to find just the right boot. I guess no sane people wear knee boots in the summer? Or maybe I've just become that picky...

I have one more pair coming tomorrow. If those don't work, should I bother with these, or just call it quits for the season? Do they look like me - the "work me," anyway? The things on the back are little snaps. Return shipping would be $5, and they would be a more spendy option (on par with the luxury rebel boots I returned). They made my heart patter when I saw them, but - kind of like with pants - I feel like I no longer trust my eye.

Ooh, I like these. I know what you mean - I think with shoes, it really needs to be love at first sight, even if they are functional work shoes...

I like them in the photo, but I'm concerned that when you wear them with your outfits, you're not in the mood to strut or kick butt. What do you think is *off* with them? Is it the color or the heel height? You've got a good eye, Rae, and must trust it. Is there one thing that's not working with the outfits you've built them around? I hope tomorrow's is love at first sight!

I love this style on you Rae. It is also a great color for our SoCal weather. I think it is a keeper. What is the comfort level? I love #2 in the pictures above.Maybe also with a lighter scarf?

They look like they fit wonderfully. Maybe because they are on the plain side and don't have an edgy UWP vibe?

I can only see one pair of beautiful brown boots. I'd swoon over these but perhaps they are a little dainty ( skinnier heel) for your tastes?

Oh I'm SO sorry Rae, I feel your boot pain. I think you should try to find summer boots for work and I like the nude idea. Wearing them barefoot in an air conditioned office shouldn't be too hot I wouldn't think. Seeing you in L.A. with boots and shorts (and Marley, and Khris, with her dress) made me realize what a fab option this is. You should have a work version, I think.

Rae, I had a feeling the flynn's would not work for you. The color just didn't seem all that flattering for you. Can you hit a store? I know you are team online but there are so many factors with boot height, heel height, circumference, color, texture, etc that I think it helps to see them in person. I have had some luck ordering boots online but it was only because I knew EXACTLY what I wanted - plain simple no embellishments, and had the exact circ and height measurements.

Rita, I wish I could, but since I work until 5:30, that's not a lot of time (traffic eats up a LOT of travel time). And that would also mean a lot of driving for me, since any given brand seems to have 0-2 options in the color range I want.

I actually don't mind the color of the Flynns but, like you said, they are sleek and minimal in style. I liked that on you and in the pics, but it just didn't feel like me when I put them on.

I like the pic of the boot here, but didn't see the others. I'd give these a whirl, and it it doesn't work, maybe it is time for a break. I know I get so involved in the hunt at some point that I lose the impartiability and just start to want to fill. that. hole.

Ok, these babies will be here Thursday, and then I'll take that break, Mo.

I'm at least proud of myself for being self aware enough to pass on the Flynns. They would technically fill the hole and go with both tan and gray, but I feel I can be patient. Trying all the options comes from a feeling that I have to "do the work" if I expect to find the perfect boot at a good price, especially when colors and measurements are all over the map.
