DH and I basically live on Turner Classic Movies! We watch new movies and documentaries on HBO, and also were enthralled by The Investigation. And some things on Showtime too.

A couple of years ago we really enjoyed Los Espookys. And I've gotten him hooked on Desus & Mero.

And Star Trek reruns of course.

I'm just about to finish Money Heist which has been brilliant in a rock and roll, full throttle sort of way. It's worth a watch if you don't mind subtitles.

I'm excited for the return of Line of Duty this weekend too.

Thanks Carla for the thread, I was looking for something new to watch this weekend.
Last I watched was The One and Behind her eyes

MsMary - no! Never heard of it but I’ll definitely check it out !

@Janet - I like Ted Lasso but since we don't have a smart TV and you can't Chromecast from an Apple device, we've had to watch on an iPad, so our viewing has been sporadic. I really like it, and I've heard it compared to Schitt's Creek. I'm such a SC devotee, I can't go there quite, but it definitely is in the same genre. I think it's the best thing Jason Sudeikis has done.

Lou and I really liked Patriot - the music aspect was so good. totally get the In Bruges comparison - yes! Wish there had been another season.

Hulu subscribers - In and Of Itself is excellent and compelling.

RunCarla- a few months back I read A Woman of No Importance (Sarah Purnell) about Virginia Hall (I remembered her wooden leg). Great book!

The Trial of the Chicago 7 is streaming on Netflix, and it is an Oscar nominee for Best Picture. along with a bunch of other categories. Sacha Baron Cohen also snatched a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
It is a really really good movie, if you like political stuff.

Helena - I include some episodes of the Brittany Hughes documentaries as recommended material in my syllabi. She really does a good job of explaining the material in an accessible and relatable way.

Oh that's so cool Bella ... We just discovered her! Any of hers you'd recommend in particular?

Midnight Diner on Netflix. Very, very Japanese IMHO so it is subtitled. I just wish I could understand the lyrics to the music. It’s a series in 23 minute segments.

To continue the Asian theme, we’ve watched House of Ho and Bling Empire, two reality shows which shows how starved we are to see others who look like us only better. They are at best *B*s.

We were entertained by Lovecraft Country.

Watching "Lupin" on Netflix, enjoying the Paris setting (they are not holding back on featuring top touristy sites and beautiful luxe interiors), French language (with English subtitles), and that it's family friendly and in the heist/caper genre my daughter enjoys.

Lupin was great! Can't wait for a new season!

We watched Minari last night on Amazon and it was well worth the $19.99 rental. Also enjoyed The Trial of the Chicago Seven.

And for you animation lovers, highly recommend A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon! (Yes, we are working our way through the Oscar nominees!)

I started Resident Alien last night because I am an old-school Firefly fan and cannot resist the comedic timing of Alan Tudyk. The second episode improved on the first and there were some good laugh-out-loud moments.

If you like quirly dramedies I recommend the Australian series Offspring. Seven seasons of about 12 episodes each On season 5 now and throroughly enjoying it.

@Neely - loved, loved Offspring! Also highly recommend it (early seasons reminded me of Scrubs, but then it developed into a more serious drama as it went on)

Season 3 of Shtisel started yesterday on Netflix in the US - lovely Israeli series.

I just finished season 2 of Trapped. LOVED it. Can't wait for season 3. Thanks for the recommendation!

I've been watching Good Girls, This is Us, The Conners, and RuPaul's DragRace...now that new Handmaid's Tale has dropped, I'll be watching that.

YES chewyspaghetti, I started the new episodes of Handmaid's Tale last night, but I was exhausted after a tough emotional day and got sleepy so I turned it off halfway through, so I could watch when I'm more alert.

Mare of Easton (HBO) is Kate Winslet's new series. Very good so far, but quite dark. I love her.

If you liked Homeland, you might enjoy The Americans. We just finished that series. Wonderful acting and storytelling. Plus amazing music.

The Americans was brutally good (!!)

Yes, really enjoyed The Americans!

I finished the first new Handmaid's Tale episode last night. Can't watch more than one episode of that at a time, although it's a stunningly good show.

We’re watching The Five, on Netflix. Yes,it’s a mystery. It was written by Harlan Cobin. There are ten episodes and we’ve watched seven, so far.

Speaking of Handmaid's Tale...(see my comment on teal!)....Yvonne Strahovski is the lead in another good Australian series we recently watched, Stateless.

I've been re-watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show on Hulu - it's still so funny and smart! And her wardrobe was beautiful, even though it was the '70's. I've also watched a couple of the early episodes of Ally McBeal...those miniskirt suits in the mid-90's! It's also still funny and smart, but fascinating to observe that it was just before cell phones became ubiquitous, so people are actually talking to each other at the local bar or coffee shop, not buried in devices. Also, there are various shots of the Boston skyline, and wow, has that city changed. Feeling super nostalgic...

Back to say I have watched both seasons of the Icelandic series Trapped and found it really excellent!

And now I want to go back to Iceland...
