Ha! This reminds me of last year when I went to London and actually did have to find an outfit to wear to see the Queen (from a distance)!

So true about the extra socks and underwear. These days if I'm traveling abroad I also bring a backup pair of specs. What's the likelihood of losing or breaking one's glasses on vacation, you ask? I don't know, but BOTH I and my husband have independently done it while traveling abroad. If you've had to wear sunglasses for 3 days straight you'd also say better safe than sorry! (If I'm in the US, I can usually find a lenscrafters or something similar nearby...)

Ha, too true! And to your point Diana, I have had my sole pair of glasses break while on business in Europe, and since I couldn't read without them, I had to cut my trip short. Now I always take two pair. Almost anything else can be supplemented/replaced while there. After all, it's not like going into the desert!

I'm learning to be good when I know what we will be doing-- things like trips home are the hardest for me because I never know if I will need clothes for yard work, going to town, or lounging nor what temp it will be in the house. Trips to the lake or the city are much easier. I'm also bad about deciding when to pack books and technology.

Ann, I guess it is more common than we think! Mine were in the bag that was stolen when I was in Athens, and J. lost his to a large wave in the Mediterranean.

I also keep a scan of my glasses prescription in my dropbox along with the scans of my passport and IDs. Just in case.

Lol! That's a great quote. I'm the opposite; when I travel I bring just a handful of clothes & rewear frequently. But if I consider downsizing my closet at home, my mental chorus "noooo, I need to have blouses in *every* colour I love and of course I need these three grey skirts, because they're all a bit different, etc."
