On the topic of white leather jacket again...

I remembered that I have already tried another white Danier jacket before and it was no go (pic 1). I am just curious to compare it with this new one and see what is the difference.
I think it is the collar. On the first jacket (o the left) it is too high and tight, not comfortable to close and therefore not functional and because of this look odd.
On a new jacket (on the right) it is positioned lower, does not suffocate and lays flat.
What do you think - why the jacket on the left was 'meh' and on the right 'fab'?

Sveta, I remembered this and wondered about it, too, because I recalled that the collars were quite similar. It seems to be a case of them reissuing almost the same jacket with just slight differences. And I believe you are right - the collar placement is just fractionally different in the new jacket. And that tiny change makes it sit in a better place.

I always worry about that kind of neckline on a jacket but was surprise to find that I quite liked it when I tried it on. I did worry that it might fight with some types of shirt/ sweater and was pleased to see you model it with a turtleneck. I tried it with a button down (low contrast) and it seemed fine. I wasn't sure how it would look with a higher contrast button down, but possibly okay (based on your T-neck experiment). It would be good with a lower neckline, too, of course.

I also found that it was possible to fold the collar down in back and make a faux-lapel in front. I did this, just trying it out, and the sales associate says that you can "train" the leather to lay that way if you want to wear it more blazer-like.

The cut on these two looks almost identical. But did the first jacket have the shoulder and back seaming that the second has? I also think the addition of those zippered pockets lends the jacket something extra. They seemed to echo the collar's horizontal lines and that appealed to me somehow.

Suz, I think you are right on all these points - and also zippers on sleeves. I just love them much better than tabs!

Me, too. They are especially useful to me because I could potentially get away without shortening the sleeve by simply turning back like a French cuff. But they said they could also shorten the sleeve for me if I wish.

ETA also wanted to say that the newer jacket seems to fit better in the shoulder area on you and it also seems as if the sleeves are more nicely fitted.

I wonder if the newer iteration is also a little bit shorter. . . It seems to hit you at a great spot, whereas the older one looked a tad long in the torso.

The slightly lower collar and the shorter body length somehow make the newer jacket feel more modern to me and more flattering on you. It seems to be cut slightly differently in the waist and hips. Amazing what subtle changes can do! But I guess we find that as we try on various makes and models of basics such as jeans, white shirts, turtlenecks, etc. right?

You look amazing in both jackets, but I think maybe the zipped pocket on #2 is bring a nice accent to your waistline.

Just want to agree the second one is fab and much better than the first. To simplify, it just fits you better for the reasons given above.

I think the second one has a better fit overall - the collar is a smidgeon lower, the shoulders a tiny bit better, the sleeves a bit more fitted and it almost looks like the hemline is a wee bit shorter and the waist a bit more nipped in. But it's the collar that makes the biggest difference IMO.

The second one is a little shorter and the sleeves are not as big. It looks like an overall smaller fit, which is more flattering on you. It's a killer jacket. I want one!

One of the reasons I like it is because the zippers on the pockets hit you right at the smallest part of your waist and really define it. The first one doesn't have that eye-catching feature.

Like Kim, i think the pocket zippers are a key difference as well. They accentuate a narrow waist, and the jacket nips here more as well. The lower collar and slightly shorted length round out a great adjustment and reissue!

I echo the others. I like the zipper placement a lot as well as the lower collar. Also, the second one is more fitted, I thnk.

I hope you are able to stalk and hunt one down for yourself!
