On the hunt: cognac slouchy midcalf boots

I am searching for a pair of cognac slouchy midcalf boots to replace the ones in the pic below. I really hate that they are not real leather, but I love the style.

I have only found two options but they both seem a little casual / western to me. I am not a westernwear type person, but they might add a little edge to my outfits so I have not ruled them out.

I am thinking of wearing them with skinny jeans, leggings and with bootcuts over the top.

Are these 2 options dated, out of style or give a really western vibe? I think it's the heel that is throwing me off - the pair I am replacing have a thinner, dressier heel (yet are still substantial, they are not like a thin stiletto heel). See pic below.

Does anyone know of any others out there that might fit the bill?

Cute boots. I like them both a lot. The second one definitely has a more western vibe but it's not over the top. I love mid calf boots for tucking--a nice solid boot helps ground and balance outfits with skinnies (like the ones you posted.) Here are some others I like:

Kelly is a boot queen --- I defer to her wisdom! I do really like the Pikolinos, although I think I prefer them in black --- more like a motorcycle boot --- wich doesn't fill your wardrobe hole!

I should have mentioned that I think I want a bit of a heel on the boot, maybe up to 2.5-3 inches (you can't see in the photo but the boots I have are about 2.5" heel).

I think those few inches really help elongate and balance out my proportions and give a slightly dressier vibe.

I just checked and the Pikolinos are 2" and the Frye Carmen Harness Short are 2.5" - the links that kellygirl posted are 1" and 1-1/4" so I am looking for something with a bit more height.

If you have other suggestions I am open. Thanks again!

I would def. suggest Frye if you can find some in the right style - they really seem to have wonderful boots! I like the Frye - Veronica Shortie that I just got. But I realize you want a larger heel.

Yes ever since I saw Fryes mentioned here I have longed for some, never knew the brand before YLF.

I have somewhat wide feet, I can wear regular or wide widths, and I have wide calves, but the mid-calf height seems to alleviate that issue.

The reviews of the Frye Carmen Harness Short are glowing for people with wider feet and calves, so I should probably just bite the bullet and get those. I have had my eye on them for a while.

Oh and the funny thing is, the Fryes are not really slouchy, which is what I want(ed). I still think they are the best option and will fill the wardrobe hole nicely. If I get them I will update the forum. Thanks again!

Welcome! I love your WIW. About the Frye boots, I just wanted to tell you that I actually ordered and returned the same pair, a while ago. They are very stiff and need breaking in. I just wanted to bring it up, in case you worry about comfort. Most Fryes need breaking in, in my experience.

I returned them because they feel too western for my style, but they were gorgeous and well made.
