On the fence: thoughts about these things?

I feel a bit strange about ordering dresses since I know so little about what suits me. I can usually have a good guess about tops but for dresses it mostly feels like a wild guess! I know it would be better to shop B&M, but my Nords is sub-par and I don't think I have time to make the trek until next week anyway. And the dress I was most interested in is sold out already!!

I'm looking for everyone's HEWI...the keep on hand for formal/funeral occasions dress. Plus one fun one for two weddings in Sept and Oct. And I have been considering adding a black pencil skirt (the Halogen seamed pencil skirt, can't get the Find to work for some reason). So...thoughts on these, in general like if you've seen them, or specific for me if you have any idea?

I think these three would work for the events you describe, the first two for the weddings, the last for funerals. Honestly, though, it is hard to say until you try them on.

I'm tempted to get #3 myself to have on hand for funerals. Which is so morbid but actually very practical. I don't know if it's quite enough for weddings, though. I like 1 or 2 better for that, 1 in particular.

I have the Ellen Tracy in the Spring/Summer print with cap sleeves but the rest of the dress is like the one you are showing. It fits well and is extremely comfortable.

They all look nice to me. I can see you in the colors, for sure. I don't think I've seen you in any fitted waist tops, though, so they might be different for you in that way. I think they are worth a try, because if they don't work, there's no hurry on returns; you can take them to the store when you can get there.

Here's the Ellen Tracy dress. My regular size. I have a VERY short waist, and it is too short for this dress with its defined waist. Everything else fits quite well, but the waist hits me at least 3 inches below my waist. For a normal person, it's probably perfect. Loved the pattern and the feel of it.
