A lot of you know i'm pretty cheap. Once and awhile i do splurge but when i do it's usually on staple items. But this has been haunting my dreams since i first laid eyes on it:

I know this isn't a splurge for some of you but it is for me. I was REALLY hoping it'd be on sale by now. But no. -_- What do you think? I love the shocking color combined with the modest silhouette....but the price..ahhhh!

I think it is a beautiful skirt and the color is lovely. If you know it may be a one season skirt at the outset and are okay with it, then get it. It really is pretty.

Now that is a statement piece! I know you said you normally only splurge on staples, but I think quality statement pieces are worth splurging on as well.

Would you feel comfortable wearing this skirt often even though it is a memorable piece or would it be the centerpiece of an outfit for a very special event? If you can answer yes to either of those questions, I think it is worth it. If it will just become an afterthought after a regular day wear or two, I'd stash your cash for something else special.

Could you wear this into the fall Nicole? I think if it's a higher price for you, and you can only wear it the next month and then have to wait until next spring it may not be worth it (unless you think you'll wear it next spring/summer, too!).

Dresslover - you hit the nail on the head. I have a hard time being seen in the same thing often and i get bored easy. This is probably why i'm hesitating.

Aida - no i probably wouldn't wear it into fall.I would wear it for next spring/summer but that's kind of a long time to wait for an expensive purchase.

Ok i think i've decided to pass. Maybe save some $ for some more expensive fall purchases and only do summer sales from this point on. Thank so much to everyone for this imput! You all are super helpful as always.

I'm on the fence too. It's fun and it's whimsical - the thing is - can you wear it often without tiring of it? If it were in the $40 range I'd say, yeeeehawwww. $70 is a bit more of a commitment. I honestly think I'd hold off.

I think its beautiful and would really suit you. However as you do seem uncertain, why not just keep watching it on line and see if the price does come down.

I'm with Deborah. You're on the fence, it's a pretty trendy color, lace seems to come and go quickly, and you wouldn't wear it into fall. The price has to come down eventually...

That's the kind of thing where I say to myself, Do I love this absolutely independently of it being fresh, trendy, and of the moment? If I already love neon and lace and midis, yes. Get it, because you will always love it. (And it's just your retail moment right now.) For me, I'll always love plaid and colorblocked items and dresses with short sleeves, so they're always worth a bit more than, let's say, lace or military styling or a-line skirts. This is also known as the "is this my jawn" test.

I love the skirt and I'm not a fan of bright colors, but this one is so pretty. I understand how you are tempted. I'm tempted. No matter how pretty it is, it is hard to wear something this bright often. Hmm--I agree with some of the others--I'd wait to see if the price comes down.

Girl X - i thought about that too! i'm pretty sure i could pull this project off even though i'm a beginner at sewing. The trick is finding some neon fabric for a good price...off to seach the web!

And you guys are right -- it has to go on sale sometime! Maybe when i least expect it, it will go on super sale and then it won't matter if i have to save it for next spring/summer.

i tend to do the opposite with spending. i would spend more for a truly statement piece that i may were infrequently (often years apart) but would make me feel FAB and HAPPY every time i wear it. that said, for _this_ skirt, i would wait a few more weeks, but that also limits your time to wear it this year.

It -is- awfully pretty, but it's also very memorable. Since you don't like being seen in the same thing repeatedly, I think you're wise to pass on it.

Wow, I really like it. I am total team bargain, but this is not something you will find everywhere for less anytime soon. I'd say watch it a bit for a sale. I think you could definitely wear it in Fall/Winter with some dressy accessories. Maybe charmeuse and metallics for holiday parties? Just saying...

Not helping but Christopher Kane did a neon lace collection for his Spring 2011. Only thing was it was laser cut leather, mostly. You don't want to know the prices.

Go for it. that's a fabulous skirt. however be completely and brutally honest with yourself-if it looks like s*t on you don't keep it. I've bought stuff just because I liked the way it looked on the model and it ended up looking horrible on me, and it became just a waste of money-I finally gave it away. it's worth buying stuff-but only if you're completely happy with it.
