OMG. figured out how to add my notes to inspiration pics !

As the most non-technical person on this forum, I am so proud of myself for accidentally solving a long-running problem : I keep an inspiration folder on my computer. However, I would often forget what I liked about the photo or which pieces I might use to achieve a similar look. Then tonight, I discovered ANNOTATION ( new to me ladies ) . An example below : the text is mine giving myself directions.

Speaking of technology, how can I post one of those little yellow smiley emoticons ( God help my family if I ever have to go back to work - you all will be on speed dial ) LOL

I LOVE this! I have an inspiration folder in iPhoto and I haven't labelled anything. Will have to figure it out!

You are such a techie, Isabel. I resonated with your comment, "God help my family if I ever have to go back to work....."!
Since I am too old to sell my body, we would have to think of something fast.

Yes ! My then 7 year old set up a folder on the "desketop" labeled "inspiration"....

I could still sell my body but it would be for "research" purposes and I probably wouldn't get much...you know, like scrap metal. ROFL !

Fruitful, I am "using" iPhoto ( I say hesitantly because I don't know how to "use " anything, really ).

In this one, I actually gave myself directions at the bottom to tailor a tunic to make it look like the picture...I am sooo loving this !!!

This is one of the main reasons I started using Pinterest. It's super easy and one can easily include short captions. The images one "pins" seem to be open to the world (one at a time) for viewing, but I decided that didn't bother me. And it's really, really fun!

Pinterest allows you to do this very easily, You can write all sorts of notes under each picture. Le me know if you need an invitation.

I never did make scrap books for our family pictures...they're all in a shoebox. *hanging head in shame* But I could get into this! Tutorial please!

Ha, Claire - a shoebox is high technology where I come from! And Isabel, I am SO impressed. An inspiration folder. With NOTES, yet. Whoa.

Back to lurking, this time shaking my head in wonder. Then forgiving myself because I really can't handle any inspiration this week, anyway, what with my ever-ongoing neutrals challenge....

smiley should be : + ) like this and some apps convert it to the yellow smiley...I have seen it work here sometimes...then today not

I just save my piccies as jpg's on my little netbook - so guess I am running a Windows Microsoft environment... I dont see anything that helps me write or annotate on these babies... I tend to just have long FILE names - cute wavy hair, pearls on tshirt summer 12 etc etc but open to new ideas with minimal mental fatigue involved...

Jayne, I think the yellow smiley comes up on the blog but not the forum.

Bella, can Pinterest be set to private? Cos I see all the chats (and arguments) pins can sometimes cause. I want to keep my inspiration to myself for now, nurtured not crushed! That's why I haven't used Pinterest, I want to avoid the social networking side of it.

Claire, one of our favourite childhood memories is spending hours poring over photos in an old tin at my Grandma's house. Shoeboxes are intuitive places to keep photos and they develop their own talisman-like allure. (More prosaically, I read about some photo storage software that mimics the shoebox concept - forgotten what it is, sorry - but its existence affirms that keeping photos in shoeboxes is normal and wonderful human behaviour.)
