Olive Handbags: y/n?

With all the talk about olive recently, I'm thinking of adding it to my purse collection, which is pretty small.

Do any of you have bags in this color? What colors do you wear them with? Do you think of it as a seasonal color? Do you like light or darker olives?

That Phillip Lim is a wonderful shade of olive to me - as is the Vince Camuto. I looked for many months to find one in a similar color but with the purse style and features I require and just couldn't find one that met my needs. If I do, I would definitely purchase an olive bag as I find it an extremely versatile neutral.

I love olive! My favourite shade of olive is not too dark and with no browniness to it....it has to be a proper green olive for me to like it. I wear olive with cream, coral, mint, pale grey, denim.
I have the casual tote below.

And I meant to say that I use and wear olive all year round. I just add loads of cream to the mix in Summer.

Olive is one of my favorite colors. Last year, or the year before, NAS had a giant olive Coach duffle. I waffled over buying it and then boom it was gone! I kind of regret not getting it. I think the specific color is important, and of course the normal functionality issues with any bag. It's hard to tell color from a picture so hopefully you can see them in person. I personally would avoid faux leather.

My fringed olive bag is a neutral to me. I wear it with everything, all year round - other neutrals, brights, pastels. I'd say it's more on the dark side of the spectrum. I have another bag with more green in it but I don't use it as often because it's too green to be really neutral and I find it looks to clash-y with some of the colors I wear.

Olive is one of my core neutrals, along with black. I haven't found much that doesn't go with it. I don't change purses often, but I do have an olive clutch I use sometimes. The only thing I try to steer away from is overly military details, since olive+black can devolve to a commando vibe with my more tomboy style. The ones you picked are pretty veering to ladylike, any would be a nice addition.

I have an olive leather bag from Coach with some black hardware (including zipper) which has turned out to be oddly versatile. It was a real impulse buy - I was enamoured by the black studs on the matching wallet and because I love olive so much.....well, there went that money. I don't use it everyday (the wallet I do though) , but do find it a refreshing change to wear now and then and it goes with just about everything I wear (denim, black, blue, army green, etc etc) .

Texstyle ..yes that Phillip Lim is a beauty. Way outside my budget but
it is gorgeous in every way.

Diane - funny how different we all are about color choices. That bag you posted would never appeal to me but I like most of the other color combos you list. Adding lots of cream in summer sounds very pretty.

Jaileen have you had issues with faux leather? The quality looks a lot better than it used to be but I've never quite taken the plunge. Seems like it could be a good option for a color or style you don't want to wear very often.

milehilestyle - good point about olive trending toward green being a bit less "neutral"

I love olive pants and their versatility with my wardrobe but haven't found a good pair to substitute for an older pair. An olive bag is the perfect alternative!! I really like the Vince Camuto and Longchamp styles. Are you going to get one of the bags you posted?

Chris, these are great picks.Like Texstyle, I like the Phillip Lim and the Vince Camuto bags a lot. I woudn't choose the Topshop bucket bag due to the drawstring closure which seems too fiddly to contend with in real life. The Longchamp bag is a great color although I'm not quite as much of a fan of that style.

Ann, no I don't plan to buy any of these specific bags, at least not right now, they were just for inspiration.

Jill58 agree on the bucket bag comment...I had a nice one quite a few years ago and dealing with the drawstring was way too fiddly for my taste.

I think faux leather won't wear as well as leather, and then ends up in the landfill without ever degrading or decomposing.

My everyday courier bag is olive. I love it! It's a great year-round neutral, and a little more visually interesting than black/grey/brown for bags.

I have an olive satchel that I bought a few years back and I love it. I tend to wear olive with my casual clothes and the satchel is a slouchy, soft leather so it works really well with them. The funny thing is that my love affair with olive was ignited by a pair of olive flats. I bought them on impulse and wore them into the ground because they worked with everything.
