old leather moto into vest?

I have an old Andrew Marc leather jacket 15+ years old that's in really good shape that I just decided to let go of, but then I'm thinking to self

wonder if it's possible to chop of the arms and make it into a vest

obviously I am not going to just chop the arms off, (but i could)
what to you all think
the only problem is, is that the shoulder line is much wider than the current fashion.

You could do it, and you could cut the shoulder line to where you want it. See if you can tell whether the armholes would be a size you would like. If they're going to be way too big, then I wouldn't make the attempt. (There's only so much you can gain, in terms of reducing an armhole, by taking in a side seam, before you make the garment too tight across the bust.)

I was flipping thru magazine, and saw a leather vest and it it just sort of reminded me of the jacket I just put in the give-away pile.

the leather and coat is just wonderful quality that I held on to it for so long

Could you take it to a tailor do you think? I'm not sure if they do alterations on leather but it's worth a shot.
