Oklahoma City Tornado

I don't know what to say, really - my eyes were filled with tears and horror as I read the first news about the devastating tornado in Oklahoma right now. I understand we must expect severe loss this time, but I really hope that all my YLF friends are safe.

My thoughts goes to the victims. Oh, all those children! It breaks my heart.

It just breaks my heart. The homes, the businesses, and especially the school. The parents of the children, I cannot imagine what they are going through.

I just heard and feel sick about it. I can't imagine what the parents of the kids are going through, not to mention what the victims went through. Absolutely devastating.

The thought of those kids in elementary school. I have had to keep myself away from the news... it just keeps coming and getting worse.

My heart goes out to all those families. Homes and businesses can be rebuilt, but so many lives will never be the same.

I saw this early on our morning news. Just can't go there at the moment, with the family funeral and Master 10 being away at school camp! Feel so helpless but praying for all.

One of my Facebook graphic designer friends is among those affected. His house is torn to pieces, although thankfully his family is unharmed. My heart is breaking for their family because they also have a newborn son in the NICU right now. One of our mutual friends from an online designer community set up a fundraising effort for them. I realize you all don't know them at all, but if you want to do something concrete for one deserving family, I will attest that Jon is a wonderful father and human being.

It is a very sad day for so many.

A good friend's parents just experienced a less severe, but still very devastating tornado near Granbury Texas on Sunday. A neighbors home was "tossed" in pieces into their backyard - they found and tried to rescue three victims from the rubble. It took hours to get help and only one survived all the way to the hospital.

This OK tornado hit an area where some other friends are currently staying/working, they themselves were okay - but surrounding areas are hard hit.

It really makes me wonder how I would react - I hope I could be as strong and helpful as many others I've seen.

Prayers and warm thoughts to all of them.

Janet, how awful for your friend. Glad he and family are safe, though.

The thing is, too, amid all the devastation... I'm so glad that there was not MORE loss of life. It's hard to imagine anyone walking away from flattened properties without shelters in a storm this large, and some did.

It's unbelievable and I really feel for the impacted folks.
