OK for wedding guest outfit?

Help me settle a debate. Is this outfit appropriate for a wedding guest at a late fall/early winter wedding? Dress code is “easy cocktail” (whatever that means...!)

Sure. That dress code clearly avoids any clear rules, as long as things are sorta dressy & fun, which this is.

I actually wear a similar outfit (I wear black sock boots) to work frequently. When I have wanted to dress it up for an after work function I swap out my sweater for a black silk blouse and add some statement gold jewelry.

Sterling, FWIW and if you're interested, I don't like the shoes with the outfit because it looks seasonally confused. Personally, I don't like Summer sandals with Winter knitwear. Especially since this is not a Summer wedding. But of course, you are free to like whatever tickles your fancy. Horses for courses, always.

Nemosmom, OTK boots tend to look better with short skirts. Do you have dressy heeled black booties. Sock booties? Pumps?

Ooh, I think the outfit is perfect. And I really do like the shoes with it, as I feel they're dressier than boots/booties of almost any sort. Women wear classic sandals like this all the time for fall and winter events, as they are classic cocktail attire.

I agree with Runcarla and Angie. Love the outfit but maybe refine the top a bit and wear closed shoes. If you wore that to my wedding I’d hope you would sit on the bride side

Yes, this is gorgeous! Agreeing with others that a closed shoe and a bit of bling would finish it perfectly. And agreeing too that it will look phenomenal with your gorgeous hair.

Gorgeous outfit! I can totally see you in this. I think I'd want wrist bling, especially with the sleeves scrunched like that.

Strappy sandals as the go-to for women's cocktail attire drives me batty. We've all gotten used to the look thanks to runways and red carpets, but would anyone ever expect a man to attend a winter formal event in his *bare feet*?!

Jewelry and a nice clutch, chain purse or really any nice bag. Whatever footwear you find appealing. I wouldn’t want a blingy top personally, the skirt should be the star. I agree with Fashintern that the dress code is clearly worded to give people some lattitude or ‘ease’ so have fun putting your personal stamp on it!

I liked the shoes too but they do seem a little seasonally confused. Really cute skirt with or without bling. I think it would be great for a wedding.

Very cool, sophisticated look. For myself, the bling would be added to my wrists and my ears only. I like the black top unadorned as a counterpoint to the fantastic patterned skirt. Sort of a place for the eye to rest. I like the shoes as shown for an INDOOR dressy event at any time of the year. They give a dressier bump to the outfit than any other footwear would. But if you switched to black pumps, it would be extra cool to wear the sheer black tiny fishnet stockings - classy and interesting!

Thanks everyone! I was worried about the skirt being too distracting.

Angie - I have a dark chocolate sock bootie and a navy sock bootie. Or, a burgundy suede pump.... Nothing else in black. If I go with a brown bootie, and a brown sweater or turtleneck, would that work? Brown seems more “work” and less “cocktail”...

Yay for my learning that my immediate thought was seasonally confused! I thought sandals for a late fall/early winter wedding?- feet will freeze! We are lucky here that "party season" is spring/summer so sandals are perfect.
I think with your similar skirt and other touches you will be a gorgeous wedding guest.
