I had to race home to grab the packages before DH had a heart attack.

Rita was right - they are too small! But the calf circumference and height seems perfect. I can fit my thumb in the top and that's it. I think the heel makes my foot angle so that I need more room somehow. I am going thinking of exchanging for a 1/2 size up. They are a heavy almost pebbled leather and seem very sturdy. A little western looking with the stitching detail, but so were the ones they are replacing. Is the toe style going to date quickly?

I love the curved stitching and from the angles I'm looking at it didn't make me think Western at all, maybe urban Euro (whatever that means - just vague associations in my head). It wouldn't occur to me that these would date, I don't think they would.

I like the boots, they look great on you. I have been thinking a lot about toe styles on shoes and boots and I realised the three pairs of boots I bought this winter all have different toe shapes....IMO anything goes as long as it works for you and creates the look you are after. From what I can see I don't think you have to worry about the toe style dating, on one level they are quite a classic shape.

I like them, I don't see any problem with gapping at the top. It's a tad big but I think it's very minor. Can you hold on to this size while you wait for the bigger one and compare the two? The gap might be more noticable in the larger size.

I'm always wondering about toe style too. It looks like those should be a classic cut that should server you well for several years. It's not like everyone in Alaska goes out and restocks their boot collection every year for the latest toe style do they?

Absolutely not, Kim - in fact, we hold on to them until they come back into style!

Rita, I think I'm just going to exchange because these are too small (short in foot length) regardless. If the bigger size makes them gap more, then back to searching I go! I also need to walk around with the heel more... however, for my skinny legs, this is as close a calf fit as I've ever gotten.

Una, can I ask what your calf size is? I have never gotten a boot with this little gap - but then again 12 1/4" is scrawny in a size 7 1/2.

I think it's right around the same as yours. My calves seem to be long for my height though, because these are supposedly 15". I will measure everything when I get home and post exact numbers for you.

Una, these are a perfect fit on your calves. Do exchange for the next half size. You did IT! On the first try. Very, very difficult to do esp with tall boots. Well played, well played.

I had to find this thread after reading the scrawny leg post. These look like a great fit for small calves. If you ever decide that you don't like the contrasting stitching, you can use black shoe polish to blacken it to blend in with the rest of the boot.
